style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif I have done a little bit of a bodgy on my 1978 rangie and just have to tell somebody about it!!.
You see the Heater Matrix in the old girl has not worked as a Heater since I got it. but will work just fine as a sprinkler system if attached to a garden hose  .
So as I can not find a replacment one and I have got sick of the Missus and kids turning blue each trip, I got off my butt and had a fossic in the old car wrecks I have in the back paddock.
Now the only problem I was facing Is that none of them Is a Range rover or even an old Landy , so I set about tearing heater matrixes out of Gallants ,Astras ,Vals and an old ford Fairlane. To my delight, the Ford one was the same shape! (slides right into the Rover heater box 8) ) The only down side, is that its half as long as the RR one so it only blows heat out the drivers side of the car  .the up side is this is plenty to heat all the car in no time  .
The only mod needed is you have to feed heater hose all the way into the cab and then into the back of the heater box, as the ford matrix outlets are on the short side. hope this helps someone in a fix style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Well Done.
Ford must have known something about the future a long time ago. Maybe they have a flux capacitor and can go back and cahnge Land Rover things to match.

Good idea there.
BUT Do You guys know that any radiator shop can rebuild your old heater core(before the plastic ones that is 89??). When mine went in my 77 , I think it cost $80 , as the problem was that the solder holding the tanks to the core had died. I am sure they can recore them also , but mine was OK after rodding.. Unless the tanks are gone they are fixable.
I would be nervous about rubber hoses through the firewall, at least whack a bit of copper tube there!!!

It's ok I did put some metal wraps around pipes about Two (2) CM's long  to stop chaffing and the make of the ford was a ZJ Fairlane with air con but u just need the Matrix not the air con.
I saw a RR heater Matrix on E-bay today and It costs $700Au so I an realy chuft at that little saving  .
As for having old one fixed will look into that 8O thanks from joe.
