Hi guys. I'm confused about the satnav on my 2011 D4. As I understand, it is a HDD based system. But is it updated through the CD/DVD? Or some other means?
I assume I don't have the latest maps - the version number says "AUS:V20101101", but this doesn't seem to correlate with any of the Whereis versions.
Any help would be appreciated
cheers

Lucas,
My 2011 D4 HSE has the inbuilt SatNav and the only way it can be updated with the latest maps is at a dealership via their plug in systems (laptop or similar) setup with the required codes etc. etc.
That means that not only do you pay for the update maps but you also incur a labour cost component as well. Usually an all up price of $400 to $500. No doubt a ploy at the time to fill the coffers of the dealers.
Not a well thought through system given that dealers seem to be more interested in other enterprises. My last enquiries of a Perth dealer a couple of months back met with a distinct level of indifference. In my opinion that arrangement has turned to crap for them and me!
Here in WA there seems to be only one computer with this setup on it and the dealers in Perth seem to have a monopoly on that.
Tough bicky's for anyone outside the city sphere.
The later models (2012 on from my understanding) reverted to the CD map load arrangement that can be done at home, or so I am told.

Here's a couple of links.
One to a thread here from last year which discusses this issue and may give you some help although I think it mainly deals with later years than yours. The others are to the shop (mentioned and linked in the thread) where you can buy updates and it has some instructions as well.
