Out of curiosity I was checking out the results of the last Graysonline auction at Minto (sale 5014453), and one particular vehicular caught my eye; Lot 12, listed as "Surveillance and Reconnaissance Soft Top".
I had glossed over it initially thinking it was an RFSV vehicle, but on second look it wasn't.
It had most notably:-

no windscreen frame
driver and passenger doors comprising open steel frames with mounts for a spare wheel on each
an extra-height canopy to allow personnel to stand upright with a opening panel on one-side (the drivers side)
storage bins (?) with hinged alloy chequerplate covers mounted longitudinally central in the rear tub
twin rear-facing seats in the behind the tub bulkhead on a caged frame
a large tool locker on the drivers-side wheel arch
mounting frames for twin spares wheels and twin jerrycans on the rear of the chassis
a heavy duty bullbar similar to those on the RFSV vehicles
First one like this I've noticed (and I generally view most of the auction catalogues); just curious whether there are many vehicles like this floating around and what their role was in comparison to the "regular" RFSV trucks.

Cheers, Dave

P.S. No matter how fascinating they may be I'm not allowed another Perentie.....

no blue slip for that one either. I'm guessing that's because of no windscreen and no doors??

also interesting the compliance plate says 3 seats, but which 3?!

My Brother just completed and registered a roaring fourtys Gt 40. He's been put through the ringer with ADRs. and everything else they could throw at him. Guess what? A vehicle is not required to have windows of any kind.

not going to pass roadworthy with the mission kit doors on it or the wirecutters.

those things we getting pulled over by the boys in blue in the NT the last time I had to support them up here.
