Has anyone else in the quest for power/efficiency thought about getting a LPG/Diesel system installed?
Something like this
ECO SHOT : LPG for Diesels (http://www.ecoshot.com.au/)
Or
DIESEL GAS AUSTRALIA (http://www.dieselgasaustralia.com.au/default.aspx?ID=Home)

I had it fitted to my old 110 a few years back. It certainly makes a difference, not only with reduced fuel consumption but the smooth acceleration and higher top speed. Before, the 110 was normally sluggish off the start and had to be pushed to sit on 110k/h on freeway. After fitting it was smooth acceleration from start and one had to watch speed because it would run up to 120k/h too easily. Economy went from around 10l/100k to around 8l/100k. I had dgas fitted. Hope this helps. Jim

Always helpful, thanks JX2mad
I also found a do it yourself kit (just curious) and I requested a quote.
Diesel LPG Conversion Kits-LGC (http://www.lgc.hk/Products1149.html)
Rather cheap coming in at $240USD delivered. need to source a tank.
although I would not want to blow my engine up...

Look in LPG and search for LPG fumigation. I have doubts about using any system that is not electronically controlled.

The trouble with modern stuff like L322s is that all LPG systems fitted to these vehicles must be type approved after passing an emissions test. So a homebrew system will be unable to get through a roadworthy inspection. You'll have to find a company that has done the testing.

I know Diesel Gas Technologies (aka KLR auto ) had type approval done for their systems but I think they only do large engines now.

Received another rough quote for a local supplier/fitter installed, dynoed and tuned for $3300 and for supply only is $1200.

I had diesel gas fitted to a 300Tdi disco - made a huge difference. I was told it was due to the fact that the older diesels burn about 80% of the available fuel, and the lpg helps to burn the rest. I have heard that the difference on common rail diesels is much less noticeable, as they are generally more efficient anyway.
Dunno if the above is true or not, so please take with a grain of salt ;)
Cheers,
Dan
