Does anyone know how to disconnect the speed alarm that comes on at 120 kph on the Disco 1 updates. I have had it for 11 years and it still drives me bonkers when it comes on - the ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding :x
Thanks

Side cutters?
What if you disconnect the yellow wire going into the MultiFunction Unit - it is a speed signal originally only used on Gulf states vehicles. Connector C2062
That might be the source. Do you have the ETM?

Yes - side cutters might help - if I knew where to cut - thanks for the tips - the ETM doesn't mention anything about a speed alarm but your tip on connector 2062 leads me to the 'Saudi Junction Connector' - near the fuse box
Maybe I simply pulll the plug apart and see what happens - don't know what else I might loose - but I will soon find out.

If all that fails, kill the thing that goes ding, ding, ding. That way the car will still operate normally. I hated the key in the ign, door open thing, thing, thing.

I am worried that the dinger is the same dinger as the headlights etc so I don't want to loose these. Will see what happens disconnecting the saudi connector - if that fails I will then disconnect the headlight dinger and see what happens.
Need to find where the actual dingers are first.
Thanks

Hi,
From memory, (its been a while),
The ding thing is behind the fuse mounting board below the steering wheel. It is a black box deal. I was able to get rid of the ign ding and keep the lights dinger by cutting a wire. Did not actually destroy the ding thing.
Cheers,
Trev.

I was chasing down a short circuit today, and I came across that Saudi connector - x241- wondering what it was. On my MY95 Disco, it was disconnected - now I know why. To reach it, you might be lucky to see it in the loom directly behind the fusebox, but if you can't, take the footwell cover off and stick your near the accel pedal. You don't have to cut, just unplug the x241, which is a single spade male/female in black plastic covers

I remember when I was in Saudi Arabia, my car used to ding when I went above the speed limit (quite often - safer to keep in front of Saudi drivers).

Thanks for the information - on the basis of other posts I had a quick look last night but couldn't find the connector - will have another look this week.
The funny thing is, that all this has brought back memories when I was putting in my alarm soon after I got the car - the alarm power and hookup to central locking is all in that general location. When I was putting all the wiring back in I noticed a connector that had separated - so I put it together - looking back on things I bet this was the connector - silly me!! Ding, ding ding ding for 11 years - silence will be golden - I hope!!
