Hi all
In the never ending pursuit for more horsepower out of the 300tdi, stage one is complete with the Alisport intercooler installed today.
So next step is the fuel pump tune. I contemplated trying to tune it myself after googling....but prefer to get it done by an expert.
Where is Brisbane is the best place for a pump tune? Was thinking MR Automotive, but there is also Brisbane tuning and turbo centre at Woolloongabba which would be a lot closer to me and I have heard they have tuned 300tdi Defenders , but this was second hand information.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

My last tune was done by Bob at Brisbane Tune and Turbo.......
MR is the cheaper option but I'm not sure what science is behind there tune, they had two cracks at mine. Some might remember the smoke screen mine used to create, second time round less smoke with slight increase in fuel......I do believe they have new settings these day, again not sure what science is behind them
At least Bob puts in on a dyno and measure the air/fuel mixture (or what ever it's called) coming out of the exhaust.
From memory I changed oils and filters and dropped the front prop shaft......drive in drive out. I had also dropped both mufflers and was running straight through exhaust.
Oh and he know landies.......well isuzu's
You can dropped my name......he will remember me.

Thanks heaps Kelvin
I have a 2 & 3/4 inch straight through exhaust and I have also installed a EGT and Boost gauge. My concern was finding somewhere who could dyno a 130 but removing the front prop shaft takes care of that issue.
Will give Bob a call Monday.

" I have also installed a EGT and Boost gauge"
you are 9/10 of the way there
IME (limited albeit) you dont want to be playing with the primary fuel screw on the Bosch too much
Sooooo you really only have aneroid settings and boost to play with safely
Chuck in a Dawes valve that gives you easy control of boost on a 300 where the waster gate rod is in triple-jointed-midget-hand territory
Now you have easy control of boost/wastegate.
So adjust aneroid setting on the plunger and star wheel and aim for 18-20 psi boost, sub 700 EGT and as much smoke as you feel comfortable with
I guarantee old mate with a dyno will spend less time and effort than you will ;)

A brilliant write up on how to do it yourself by Ian from Thermoguard is here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment.php?attachmentid=326&d=1152411367
