I'm trying to calculate if I bought a Series 1 Discovery Tdi and put a two inch lift and 235/85/16 tyres, will fit in my garage. The opening height of my garage is 202 cm. The problem that I've encountered is that I've found a number of different heights listed for a Series 1 Discovery ranging from 181.7cm up to 196.6cm (although most list it as being 192.8cm). It also doesn't list whether these heights are inclusive of the roof rails. Can anyone tell me what the real height of a Series 1 Tdi Discovery is (with roof rails).

My calculation

Standard Height: 192.8cm (if correct and includes roof rails)
2 inch lift 5.1cm
Increase tyre size 3.3cm
Total 201.2cm

Should just scrape in (with fingers crossed).

Any help or info greatly appreciated.

Why not measure your current clearance and do your sums from there??

It would be a total bummer if you went through the exercise, only to find out last that it won't fit 8O 8O

Hello Rosco, I don't own a Discovery at the moment and will only looking at buying one if I can fit it into my garage when it is fitted with a lift and bigger tyres. I know how high my garage door opening is but I'm having trouble finding the correct height of a Tdi Series 1 Discovery. A number of websites quote different heights.

Oops .. should have read more carefully

Have a look at a vehicle of the type you're after. I think it's on the sunvisor from memory. All the various heights with and without factory roof racks, sunshine roof etc

I'm really suprised that the info is hard to find on the internet. I think that different coutries must have had different suspension set ups and therefore different heights.

From my sunvisor (1993 TDI Dicso):

std height = 1928mm
with roof rails = 1968mm
with sunroof open = 2005mm

Also note that some springlifts (if that is what you are doing) are actually 45mm, not the advertised 2" (51mm) eg Kings.

Cheers

Found two differing heights listed in Australia

http://www.shift.nrma.com.au/motoring/cars...se7_specs.shtml (http://www.shift.nrma.com.au/motoring/cars/buying_and_selling/used_car/reviews/road_test/land_rover/lanse7_specs.shtml)

NRMA say that the Tdi is 1968mm high.

http://www.drive.com.au/used/search/detail...nv=1&mode=Specs (http://www.drive.com.au/used/search/detail.aspx?id=2226001&pg=3&pp=11&d=0&nv=1&mode=Specs)

Drive.com.au say that the Tdi is 1928mm high. This doesn't sound right to me as they then list the TD5 as being 1935mm, as do NRMA and I'm pretty sure that the TD5 was a little bit lower than the Tdi.

Unless someone can tell me something different it doesn't look like it will fit and I'll have to scratch the Discovery off my list.

I concur with gghaggis.

Also consider the angle of approach to the garage entry if it is horizontal (or IOW on the flat) then no issue but if it is inclined then measure carefully.

What does your drivers sun-visor say?
