4.6 into d1

Hi guys and girls my names Cameron i am new to the the forum.Ive swapped the 3.9l out that was in my d1 and put a 4.6 out of a p38 in engine runs fine but gears are not working (3.9 gearbox) has anyone done this conversion before and can point me in the right direction ? thanks :)

What exactly does that mean? Is the auto not driving at all, or isn't it changing gears properly? Did you use the 3.9 flywheel and converter drive plate on the 4.6? Or is it a manual? Did you knock the transfer case into neutral?

if it is an auto, the torque converter has probably missed the pump drive, or dropped off it. torque converter shimming changes from model to model, it is quite easy to get it too big (crush the pump) too small (drops out of mesh and then damages the pump)
