I have just done a oil change at 10,000ks normally do them at 5000 but am doing highway driving mainly to work after the oil change I went to change the air filter found it was lose there was a fair amount of dust accumulated at the front of the filter and some around the wing nut and washer should I expect there has been damage to the engine and how can I check I should have checked the air cleaner before I changed the oil any replies appreciated cheers all

Dust around that wing nut is normal since that is on the outside of the filter.
Is there any dust downstream from the filter?

Maybe no dust got past.
How loose was it? Since it seals against a rubber seal at the back of the filter, it need not feel rock solid for the seal to do its job. The rubber allows a tiny bit of movement.
