Oil relief valve spring measurement

Can someone with factory workshop manual please give me free length of oil pump relief valve spring... My Haynes manual does not list it and my Rave cd only has 300tdi

if by "lost it" you mean my temper... then yes... I thought they would have listed that in there.. they have every other measurement but that :roll: :roll:

Maybe measuring is not a reliable method of testing and they (the workshop manual people) rely on you testing oil pressure with motor running and a gauge. If the spring shows to be suspect they want you to just replace with new one. Free length doesn't always represent a spring in good condition for working pressure.

For the sake that it's a less than $5 part I'd buy a new one but then I make a habit of replacing cheap parts as they often cost more in the long run if they aren't changed at convenience.

yep... I am the same.. It is usually the $2 part that will let you down...
Have pulled oil pump apart and will replace spring and plunger...
Just would have liked to know if the spring was a good spare or throw away..
