Stuck rear stub axles

My rear stub axles are stuck and I'm looking for suggestions to remove them please.

I'm rebuilding my first series and I've stripped the axles and repainted them. I didn't realise the stubs came off the rear and now I do I'm struggling to get them off. I've tried putting two hub nuts back on and twisting with a big bar on the socket but all I managed to do was tighten the nuts!

Any other suggestions or should I just leave as is and just replace the distance piece in situ?

remove the mounting bolts, make sure it hasnt been welded on.

get some heat onto it ( a 240v heat gun or paint stripping gun is enough) from the stub axle side and put a burrless metal tube inside the stub axle with some tape wrapped around it to prevent any damage, lean on the pipe and then give the stub some encouragement with a deadblow hammer or rubber mallet (a block of hardwood and a gympie also work)

Have at the joint with a wire brush it doesnt look like its welded but theres a build up under the paint at about 10 oclock that is most likely poor preperation prior to painting but might be a weld. (it might also just be a bad lighting thing making it look like somethig its not)

Bit hard to tell with the paint. Wirebrush it and its not hard to7 see if there is a weld. Some 1 could have used silastic or variation and left for a long time can give the feeling of being welded! A heatgun as mentioned will help there, just follow Blknights instructions and see.

The stub axle join is shown on your picture (below).

The stub axle overlaps a flange on the end of the axle.

Doesn't look like a weld.

Try screwing the nuts the end of the stub & give them a tap with a lump hammer

A bit of heat, and old hammer handle down the stub, a hammer and knock from the other end with a punch and they eventually came off this morning :)
