All,
I have a MY12 D4 and a Samsung S4 phone. For about last 2 and half years the phone has been connecting to the D4 via bluetooth with no problem. When I went to use the phone the screen correctly shows the phone book and everything was working correctly.

In the last month or so something has caused this connection to fail. Very ocasionally the connection will happen correctly, but more often (99% of the time) it fails. The D4 recognises the phone is there and it shows on the screen - I only have the standard non-touch screen in the Disco - but when I go to use the phone instead of showing phone book the screen shows "Select Phone". If I go into this it asks to delete the phone.
I have deleted the phone umpteen times, but no success. The phone reconencts but still no Phone Book. I have un-paired the phone and then re-paired - I have done this many times. The phone gets a message from the D4 and gives the 4 digit code to connect to the bluetooth. I enter this code but still does not show the phone book.

Anyone had this problem? Or got any suggestions / ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.
Ross

I had very similar happening with my iPhone 5 for a few months - but has now all returned to normal, and I have my phone book etc back again on the screen (I have the touch screen in my D4).

Like you, my phone was still working OK but no phone book, last callers list etc. Also, pushing the button on the steering wheel was no longer bringing up the digital keypad on the screen as was normally the case - I had to push the right button on the touch screen to bring this up. At one time, I believe that I could not even bring up the keypad on the touch screen - it kept asking me to re-connect the phone (which was already connected) and I had to actually dial the number I wanted to call on the phone. All has now returned to normal though, and I have not done anything at all to re-set the system (no battery disconnects / soft or hard re-boots etc).

In the case of the iPhone, we are constantly getting new "system upgrades" (I get the same for iPod and iPad as well - and even getting regular advices of new version of "iTunes" on a windows based computer that I sync everything with).

I have assumed that the temporary loss of some connectivity features between iPhone and the D4 were because one of the iPhone's "system upgrades" had some compatibility issues - and this has since been corrected with a subsequent "system upgrade". I could be wrong, but it's the only thing that I can put the temporary changes down to.

Maybe the Samsung has similar "update" issues ?????

Or maybe those bloody North Koreans are hacking into our systems again ................................. (tin foil hat is on).

Thanks BMKal for your response. In my Samsung I have auto updates turned off - so that is not the problem. Since this probem started I have manually done an upgrade to the OS on the phone - but it did not solver the problem.

Have you tried deleting the D4 from the phone? You can then try setting it up as a brand new connection. Also, a "hard reset" of the D4 should clear the phone from its memory. Do a search on this site for hard reset.

Took the D4 back to local LR dealer during the week. They searched their software bulletins and found some that related to bluetooth. Performed a software update on D4, cleared all previous bluetooth connections from both car and phone - and it is all working again. Hope it stays that way.
Cheers.
