FL2a, Disco Sport & RR Evoque comparison

Since moving from a 26 year old Perentie 110 to a RRV, Ive become more interested in modern LR, and specifically the FL2 update or FL2a as Ive called it. I personally think the FL2a is a very good value vehicle, and who knows I might buy a used one in a couple of years. I note the arrival of the new Disco Sport and the RR Evoque, which for me are both a progression of the FL2 which has now sadly come to an end. Ive been looking for a youtube comparison of these three vehicles, and haven't found one. So I thought I'd start a thread on the topic, starting with the interior. Feel free to add to this.

The FL2 has a more comfortable roof line for entering and exiting the car, and better vision than the other two. The Evoque generally has tyres and wheels only suitable for the road. The Disco Sport rear seats don't lay down flat if you want to use all the rear space. Definately no good if you want to sleep in there. Otherwise they are pretty similar cars.

Automatic transmission options are also different.

FL2 has the Aisin 6-speed only

Early Evoques also the Aisin 6-speed, the later ones have the ZF 9-speed

The Disco Sport has the ZF 9-speed.

I agree, it appears to be a more practical car while also being very comfortable incl having front arm rests.

No doubt the ZF is a very refined tranny. I've seen reviews that indicate the 9th gear doesn't get used.

The Japanese Aisen 6 speed AWD (AWTF-80) has been around since about 2006 I think, in other makes. We have the TF-80 in our Pug 407. It seems a nice compact tranny. I think 6 gears are quite sufficient.
