View Full Version : The birthday present .. a remap

Recently my wife asked what I would like for a birthday present. I pondered this for a few days. I mentioned to her that a remap for the car would be nice .. not expecting that that would actually happen (because of the cost).
Well to my great surprise and delight I was presented with a Bluefin remap for our TDV8 which I have just downloaded from the internet and uploaded to the car.
Man this is an impressive bit of 'kit' and a much appreciated gift from my lovely wife.
Cheers

Wow. My wife would never consider it. Not that I've particularly been looking at one. Let us know how it goes Steve.

When you get a little lady like that they are definitely a keeper...
My darling spoke to me the other day and said "When can I make my 90 into a missile?" - She wants the 170 AB tune and IC...
Bless her heart....

For sure Pete.
I think it's going to be good for towing our Track which is about 2 tonnes when loaded .. it's really got some low down grunt. Be nice trying up Cunninghams Gap or going up the range into Toowoomba. But that's a few months away yet! :D

You're not wrong there .. definitely a keeper. She did take a bit of convincing to get the L322 as she was very happy with the D3. But now definitely come round to the RR.
So when's the 90 assuming missile status?? :D

I towed the camper trailer up to Toowoomba a few months ago. In comparison to the turboed Isuzu (which is pretty good) it was real easy. When I get my RRV back we should catch up for a comparison. Im hopefully out your way next Sat, with the RRV, if your around.

That'd be great but unfortunately in Dubbo next Sat but I'll take a rain check on that for sure. :)

I'd forgotten just how steep the Toowoomba Ranges climb is until we towed the 21 foot Bushtracker up there in June, fully laden. Yikes,! Im glad we were in the TDV8 - even with the ECU remap and exhaust mods it was umm - slow😳

Wow. That's a lot of van (& weight) to pull up the range .. I'm not surprised you found it .. umm - slow! Do you know what weight you were towing? It'd have to be near 3 to 3.5 tonne wouldn't it. Definitely the right vehicle to tow with. :D

It was close to 3.5; I don't think we will carry water next time - fill up tanks at first c/park instead!

Pete ... how does awesome & stunning sound ! The trip to Dubbo last week showed the vehicle brilliant to tow with. The pick up when towing is nothing short of amazing especially when passing trucks up hills. The trip was only marred by the failure of one of the top two turbo hoses ... sprang a leak 60 kms west of Warwick. In 2 places actually .. a 1cm long split and a hole the size of a match stick head. Duct tape is a marvellous thing. Wrapped half a role of it tightly around the offending area and nursed the car back home.
Cheers

Great result.
Good pick up on the turbo hose problem. I bought some rescue tape from Supercheap in case of that problem. Where were the holes? Was the slit along the hose clamp?

The slit was along the bend in the hose and the hole was in the straight part. Actually they were only found by squeezing the hose and seeing the damage. The difference when the new one was fitted was remarkable.
