can anyone tell me how much the RFSV Perenties have been selling for at the auctions, I am interested in buying one in the current auction and just want to know if they are in my price range. TIA

Around the $12k-$13k mark plus 6% plus 10%.
Some get more. Depends on the buyers reasons for buying.

Some have sold for more in recent months, I think prices have come down some what, but this is reflected by the condition. Like Mick said theres a few factors that can increase pricing.

seller obviously doesn't know much about it, described as a 5 speed manual.

Agreed, but maybe there not a option for a 4 speed in the ad?

Hope this helps samuelwest. The RFSV pictured below sold this week at Minto and would have ended up at around $20 900 by the time you paid the 6% buyers premium plus 10% GST.

Looks like prices could be back on the rise. Maybe this was an extremely good example but from what I can see from the images posted on Grays it was missing quite a bit of equipment that I know other RFSV's have gone to auction with in previous months. Maybe not many more to come up through Grays and people wanting to get one is pushing the prices up? Not sure. Did anyone on the forum see this vehicle? How many more RFSV's are still to be disposed of?

Regards Warrick.

Wow... I had no idea they were going for so much $$

That's considerably more than a 6x6. And then you still have to add turbo and power steer and probably a new canvas

Dashed my dreams of adding an rfsv to the fleet

No need to budget for power steering. They have it! Plus disk brakes on all wheels. Plus a PTO winch. Plus long range tanks. Plus dual batteries. Plus upgraded and lifted suspension. Canvas on these 4 were all good condition too. Very different beast to a 6x6 and built for serious expedition.

RFSV's are good value at under 20k as I believe that they owe the ADF 100k plus per vehicle to build. The combat wheels alone are worth 2k each new before you fit tyres and each vehicle has 7 wheels. Someone on the forum will probably know exactly how much they cost to build.

The ones auctioned in Perth this week were all Tenexed (rebuilt) around 2010. Pretty much genuine kms on the clock since rebuild. I think the new owners will be very happy with their purchases. One of them at least looks like it is heading east. Hopefully the other 3 will stay in WA.

bugger... you've just ruined my internal dialogue as to why I shouldn't be lusting over an rfsv. they do sound like a good deal... if only they had a 5 speed and aircon I could justify it as a daily driver

Latest RFSV prices paid at the 2017 May Perth auction. Did anyone on the forum have a look at these vehicles? Must have been in pretty good condition going by the prices that have been paid. Looks like they may have been Tennexed due to the low kms on the clocks.

G'day Warrick,
I had a good look at 48003 at Minto (NSW).
While it's not in the best condition, it is actually surprisingly good for its age.
There are a few bits of rust that need sorting out and a few mechanical issues and oil leaksto be fixed.

I also was over in Perth after the auction and had a look at two of the RFSV' that were still there.
compared to 48003, they were in atrocious condition.

51589 was the one that went for the top price in Perth, it only had 329klms on it since a full rebuild,
and since the rebuild in 2015 it looks like it sat in salt water up to it chassis all that time.

The brake disks & rear pads needed replacement, the coil springs (front & rear) were really badly rusted, most of the fuses were blown, relays didn't work, alternator didn't charge, batteries were flat, alternator pulley out of alignment with crank & water pump pulleys causing excessive wear to the v-belt, bottom radiator hose & by-pass hose were nearly cracked through, power steering pump leaking, both front and rear diffs leaking a little, canopy has a fair few small holes in it, exhaust needs replacement & a hell of a lot of other issues that need to be fixed.

Apart from my above comments, all I can suggest to people planning to buy from the Welshpool W.A auctions in the future is go and have a look at the vehicles very, very carefully, as unlike the NSW auctions the W.A vehicles are no-where close to a roadworthy condition.

Final price (including buyers premium and GST) for ARN 48003 @ Minto =$ 32,192.09
Final price (including buyers premium and GST) for ARN 51589 @ Welshpool =$ 27,178.29

regards,
Mike.

P.S. Here is a few pics of 48003 where it is temporarily living until it gets worked on.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the detailed assessment. It was good to read. I spoke to a friend of mine after I posted the auction images above and he also told me that the last batch of RFSV's sold at Welshpool were in poor condition too. Pretty much what you said re the salt water damage.

Did you buy ARN48003 from Minto? With that number is it one of the first RFSV's? Looks like it was once part of the North Force Plibara Regiment with that colour scheme too? If so it is interesting that it found it's way across to Minto and not Welshpool for auction. Thanks for the photo's

G'day Warwick. 48 003 is actually 2 prototypes in one. It was the FFR IPV then was upspecced to be the first RFSV. That was why it was sent to Minto. Minto is where the money is!

Thanks for the info Dave. I thought there must have been a reason why it was hottly contested at auction. That explains the big price. How many more RFSV's do you think are left to sell? There were only about 240 in total wasn't there?

Thanks for recording and posting Warrick, that takeaway price would be over $28k not including rego, stamp duty & insurance.

Did you also record the ADF Rego No?

One thing that people looking to acquire them might like to know is, that since I replaced those unbalanceable split rims & noisy tyres with tubeless steel rims & BFGs, mine has become much more comfortable (and quieter) :) .

Works out pretty expensive for a 1991 Landrover. I don't think the 1991 TDI's are fetching anything near this. You might get a PUMA for that price if your lucky but an RFSV is much more comfortablehttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/icons/icon6.png

Totally agree with you re the tubeless tyres and rims. ARN details below.
