Hi all, I have been given an '87 Range Rover by my father, it is a good runner and very clean and straight for age, we have a '96 Rangie that we love and I'd like to get the '87 registered and on the road as a car I can take off road as the wife is not keen on me taking the '96!

The interior is pretty shot as its been sitting around so I'd like to look at pulling it out and replacing it, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what other years would have an interchangeable interior when I'm looking at wrecking ads? I'm looking to replace door trims, seats, console and I'm assuming dash unless I can get the rest in the same colour.

I'm getting it re sprayed as old paint is pretty average, and I'd like to keep e project moving forward so any help with interior would be appreciated as that's one of my big jobs and I'm guessing bug spends.

Also if anyone can help me out with good wreckers for parts it would be appreciated, I'm in Ballarat but willing to travel within reason.

Thanks in advance.

I think this has been asked here before... (Well I think I asked before :) ). You need to use the disco dash etc... not the p38.

Is your father the one with the cars on gumtree in ballarat ? See if you can get the 4.6 out of the p38 for the classic too :wasntme:

So what year disco's would that be?

No, he only had the one car that he brought for spares for his and had it sitting around for years he pulled out a seat and the bull bar and other than that he didn't use anything, he gave me the front bumper and lower section that came off his original one so its pretty much complete.

I have looked on gumtree and haven't seen any in Ballarat.

This guy ... he had two classics on as well (parts cars by the looks of them). they may or may not have sold though :)

Dashboards are all grey in that series of RR so that makes it easy.

If going a like for like swap, I think you'll need to stick to '86 - '88 models. The door trims changed around 1989/90 & had a few minor differences to the interior lock & wood trim.

D1 update dash can be fitted, not sure on the seats & door trims though.

Disco 1 seats are a straight swap but a big step backwards, the RR seats are much nicer- I went the other way with 88RR seats (all) into a 97 Disco 1. I think virtually the whole interior can be swapped between 87 and 93 before the soft-dash update.
