I read in the Herald Sun yesterday that the filming of the long awaited Peter Brock movie is to commence later this year.
Natalie Bassingtwaite is to play Julie,....P.B. would be pretty impressed with that!

Well it depends on how one sided it is going to be. From all reports so far it will only be one version and not based on a lot of fact. Exactly like the INXS Mini-Series.
Would be good to see a factual movie.

will it be like every other biopic movie and be fictional....

I will look forward to the way in which they cover how he drove using parts that were homologated so that he was the only one that had them and how he pranged his car and jumped into the other team car to win Bathurst.
There is no doubt he was a very talented driver but some of his wins were due to having what could be said was an unfair advantage compared to the rest of the field.
Then of course there was the famous Polariser - looking forward to how they are going to deal with that one.

We knew Peter & Bev very well. As a matter of fact, I was only speaking to Bev a couple of weeks ago, and yes, she has concerns as to how things will be portrayed.
Whatever, I'll definitely be interested in how it turns out.
Sometimes, well nearly always I guess, people have their own take on how things should be, and so they're not always happy.
As far as Brock is concerned, the BEST book about him that has ever been written was "The Rise & Fall of Peter Brock", a joint effort by John Harvey & Bill Tuckey,....LOTS & LOTS of people (fans/know alls?) didn't like that book, but despite the contents, no-one ever got sued?!

I think the idea is appalling. The storyline would be as predictable as a sunrise given his public life, and his private life is best kept private....
Let him and the past rest in peace. I can't imagine it would reflect the memory we all have (or would like to have) of him behind a steering wheel.

This has been broached before, usually by disgruntled Ford Fans.
Now's the time to put up or shut up and name exactly the parts that were used that no one else had access to or were illegal.
Has been done to death and remaining HDT engines checked and rechecked.
The fact is if one was doing it all were and there has been quite a bit revealed recently by Ford drivers using illegal parts, using parts that could not be determined as illegal in inspections and engines having parts quickly removed after races before inspections. Ford are the only ones actually caught out on several occasions. Then there was Allan Moffatt that had direct and sole access to Ford performance parts out of Canada and the US. The Dick Johnson running an underweight Falcon and was the sole reason he could even get close to Brock.
Pickles may be able to weigh in on some of this.
Do a bit of reading on the Polariser aside from the retractions. I am not a fan of crystals and hocus pocus, but the open and honest evaluations could not explain why it seemed to work. It was only later these were retracted when GM wanted HDT. Funny that some similar magnets and crystals are now being used for fluid flows and disrupting elements in fluids, water treatments etc. There were a lot of articles written on the performance or harmonics that seemed to occur and no one could actually explain it.
I remember having a similar discussion on hydrogen engines a couple of years ago and look at them now.

Mate, that is a pretty fair summation of how ALL the Fans, either Brock, non Brock, Ford Holden, or whatever, need to look at things.
People have for years said Brock had the best equipment,...and so does Whincup, Winterbottom, Lowndes, so did Skaife etc etc,.....the top teams always have the best equipment
Polariser, yep, know all about that, had a couple on my cars, I'm used to all the "stuff" about it too,...been done to death.
There is one thing Brock wasn't,..He, as a race driver, and a team owner was a very fair guy,..very fair. Look, "Peter Perfect" could wheel & Deal with the best of 'em, but He was not a cheat, and as far as engines are concerned, HDT did not always have the best or most powerful engines, Grice's Les Small engines, & Bob Morris's engines were always at least the equal of anything HDT had.
There was only one occasion early in HDT's "reign" when Brock's team were guilty of anything untoward & that was in the VC days when the weight of the car should have included the weight of the A/C unit. Peter was penalised for that, and He never forgot it.
Who knows what the film will be like, ...not me,.....but I'm looking forward to it, just as I would if they did one on Moff or Dick.

Thanks for your posts, nice to be able to have someone that knew him personally. I was lucky enough to meet him about 6 times and on a couple of occasions got to have some good chats.
Brock was and is my idol, warts and all. My son is named Brock. He certainly was not perfect, just human. However he was a great driver and an even better people person, though I am led to believe he was not always comfortable as a people person. So many drivers could learn how to handle themselves bys studying Brock and even Lowndes.
I read all I can to get the big picture but have not been able to get the Tuckey book, though it will turn up.
While I am a Holden person fundamentally, I do like all race cars and most of the drivers even though at times it may be a love hate relationship.
Believe me, I have Dick Johnson pics and signed stuff as well and if Dick did have his way early on he would have been driving Holdens.
Too many people are blind to their brand and or driver.
Of course as the lead driver Brock was sometimes going to have the better of the 2 cars, but not always the case especially in the early days right up until probably 78, generally less superior cars. It was the way he could treat and nurse a lower powered and often damaged car.
I have not spent a lot of time at race tracks, but when I have usually get pit access. Some posters want to spend some time in pit areas before and after races and see how some of their favourite drivers act like children and spit the dummy. There are a few that I wont even bother to approach anymore at all because of their antics.
At the last V8 event in Perth I was lucky enough to fire Marshall for the Red Bull and FPR Pepsi Max pits. Love Lowndes, don't particularly like Whincup. Do not mind Mostert, did not like Winterbottom until I met him and had a Chat for a few minutes, such a nice and fairly genuine guy. By the end of the event I actually had a little more respect for Whincup. After the whole event had finished, crowds had gone and we were having dinner, my boy and his friend went for a walk into the pits. Now pretty much no other fans were there and a lot of the drivers were gone. Whincup was still there and spent about 20mins talking to the kids, the kids got shown through the garage as they were packing up and the HRT garage.

Your son is called Brock?...AWESOME,..that's real dedication.
Yes, we all have our likes & dislikes I guess.
I was never particularly keen on Skaife, but jeez, He does a good job with Rusty on the Foxtel TV, & He REALLy does know his Supercars.
Whincup,...lots don't like him, I don't know why. We had him at the HSVOC for a presentation, & He was the most genuine guy (as you found) you'd want to meet,..and He answered some pretty "curly" questions without blinking.
If I'm to be honest with myself, I reckon all of the current crew of drivers are OK, some get a bit "angry", but the competition, & just trying to survive, would be pretty tough,...hard to keep your cool sometimes!!
As usual, can't wait for Bathurst.
But Craig, you MUST obtain a copy of "Rise & Fall",.....it's just the best read, if you're interested in Brock. (not particularly complimentary to Brock though,..He never read it, & no-one ever asked him to sign one!)
But Peter was special, no doubt about it. You could be at a function with hundreds of people, ..if Brock was there, just knowing he was there, was special.
I remember in the late eighties/early nineties, things were tough for Brock, so lots rallied around to support him/do stuff etc. One day, I got home & there was this postal cylinder on my doorstep. Inside was a hand finished self portrait of himself that P.B.'d drawn ( He was pretty cluey at lots of stuff, carpentry, painting, He was into Ned Kelly for a while too!) and at the bottom, again hand written X PB, "To Karen & Martin, For all that you do for me". I've had heaps of Brock memorabillia, most of which I've sold to new "custodians", but that item will be going to my children.

An "issue" has arisen with this Movie.
Channel 7 will not allow Channel 10 to use their race footage, as they have not been able to come to a suitable "agreement".
Apparently, family members are to be asked for their footage.

I just hope they make the movie. PB had serious talent behind the wheel and talent in front of a camera. Put the two together and you have the best driver, from the best period of motor racing in Australia ever.
IMO :D
I don't watch the rubbish they call motor racing these days.
ALSO MO :D
