But they do not use a Defender in their marketing - that is not a Defender, it is a Series Landrover, probably a Series 2/2a by the door hinges, but possibly some sort of hybrid. Defenders did not appear until 1989, and that was built before 1983, probably between 1958 and 1971.

Oops!
Nice looking trailer. I wonder if they have a Defe...er...Series stud pattern?
The rear hitch receiver is a nice touch.

Here ya go, more Teardrop campers, started in America in the 1930s, they could be towed by small cars and Motorcycles.

I am researching about teardrop trailer construction and different types.
For me it is a compromise between a caravan and a soft top camping trailer.
It suit my requirements because my limited parking space which it is not enough for a caravan.
For those interested in the TD topic the best source of information is in THIS FORUM (http://www.tnttt.com/)
One of the best known teadrop trailes for the mid 1940's is the Cabin Car made in USA
HERE (http://48rob.yuku.com/topic/22/Modern-Version-Of-A-1946-Cabin-Car-Trailer#.Ve4pPRGqqko) is some info and photos of a replica built by one og the TNTT forum members.
Here is the original trailer.

I guess that for off road expeditions behind a Defe this modern teardrop will be more suitable :)

I thought about making one to put behind the MG Midget :D but then thought maybe an off road version would be better, it could be towed by the dormobile too.
Interesting plan here - http://www.mikenchell.com/images/GenericBenroyPlans.pdf
And an interesting off road version -
