Hi Guys,

I had got a Disco 3 SE V6, its got a front bash plate and rock sliders. I have got quotes to fitting a bullbar from OL costing me around $2100 and $3500 with winch included.

The other option is a install a winch behind the bumper and was quoted around the $1500 from british offroad.

My doubt is, is a bull bar very essential from a clearance point of view to tackle obstacles or more required to protect the vechile from roos on the road.

Can i get away with a A frame bull bar made of polyurethane and a winch installed behind the bar costing me around $2200.

yours suggestions are much appreciated.

Regards
Shiva

Anything other than a Bull bar for protection is a waste of time.

If you don't want one at all, then a winch cradle and standard bar may do the job...

A bull bar is more for those long touring trips, protection against animal strikes, if you're not going to be doing this, then the winch behind the bumper is fine, $1500 is pretty good value, does that include fitting.

Agree with Baz. To me long distance remote touring a bull bar is a must, (winch probably less important). But if you aren't doing that and are just doing 4wd tracks close to where you live pls or minus main highway driving then a bullbar is less essential. The poly a frame is pretty much useless for protection it is really just for looks and a place to mount some spotties.

There was a thread some time back debating the ADR compliance and insurance status of discreet winch mounts. It seemed to be unresolved..?

Does anyone know if there is a clear answer on this?

To my knowledge the only mount with ADR compliance is the factory one.

Having said that, if the discreet mount is behind all the SRS crush cans etc then it should be ok without certification.
