Hi All,

The various plastic panels (eg front passenger/drivers foot-well trim panels) on my 76 are basically destroyed.. As I suspect is a common problem with most old these vehicles.

I am not restoring this car to concourse standards.

What have other people done in relation to replacing these panels? I haven't even tried sourcing them but I suspect that they are probably are rare as hen's teeth!

I intend to get the seats re-covered by an upholsterer, so my thoughts were:

* Make up my own trim panels - covered in the same vinyl as the seats
* Use either aluminium or masonite?

What have others done?

Cheers,
The Grey Ghost

Are they the same as later classics? I have a couple I don't want - free to a good home.

Hi Ron,

I have no idea - I have very little knowledge of Classic Range Rovers, especially the earlier 2 Doors compared to the newer 4 doors.

Pictures would be great - unless anybody else with more experience can answer the question "Do the plastic trim panels off a 4 door, fit on a 2 door ?"

Cheers,
The Grey Ghost.

I'm not 100% sure, but those front panels could well be similar as the front of the front door of a 4 door is in the same spot as the front of the door on a 2 door. Making them out of ply or similar and recovering them wouldn't be too difficult though.

There are a couple of Rangies (4 doors) being wrecked in Melbourne at the moment - they are missing a few bits now - they are at my place, but there should be a set floating around, or take Ron up on his offer - not much to loose for the price of postage. :)

Hi Ron,

I am definitely interested in those front plastic panels (passenger and drivers kick panels) - when you get a chance.

Cheers,
GG.

Does anyone know if they will fit the 2 door.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for that - I don't think that these are the ones that I need. It's hard to tell - because mine are missing BUT I bought a CD from AULRO - an according to the parts manual (page 87) - the plastic bits don't have the upright column/extension on either side..

So as much as I would like to gamble that these might fit (or that I could hack them to make them fit) - I probably shouldn't.

I would feel guilty cutting up a bit that somebody else could use.

Thanks for your help though.

Cheers,
Tom.

These are what I have:

Famous Four in the UK, sell new copies as well as the plastic panels under the seats. Prices aren't too bad if you can cop the postage! P.S They also sell early model 2 Door Seat diaphragms.
