Quick one. ( maybe )
Will series 2 wheels fit my SWB series 3.
Measured the off set and seems like 6mm between the two.
Picked up 4 series 3 swb 1977 wheels ( mine is a 77SWB ) but two rims are no good, so have been offered series 2 ones as replacements.
All the 10 or so measurent the same but different to the series 3 ones.
Two series 2's have been Gal dipped.
I got a heap of stuff at scrap prices.
Want to run 215 or 235/85/R16 tyres.
Thanks

All Series wheels are interchangeable. Except for rare FC, NAS and very early 80" wheels, they are all 16" and come in two widths, 5" and 5.5". Offsets vary a little, but owners have been happily mixing them on the same vehicle for at least fifty years without any dire results. Probably not good to use the swb 5" wheels on lwb, as they are made out of lighter material.
As long as the width is the same, 6mm difference in offset will not be noticeable in any way except for the need to adjust steering stops if set to almost allow tyres to hit springs.
Series 3 wheels can be an issue on earlier Landrovers for those wheels with a circular rib joining the stud holes as they need a slightly longer stud.

This has been touched on many times ;), but "technically" (according to tyre manufacturers) 235/85/16's should be fitted to a rim of 6" or wider. ie not suitable for 5.5"

Some manufacturers seem to think 5.5" is OK for 235/85R16.

Ya need four round ones with that black rubbery stuff so the paint on the rims doesn't wear off on the ground
Dunno about you, but I'm finding this whole conversation confusing... but I don't actually have to make a decision so I'm probably not concentrating properly... that and being lousy at comprehending numbers (but good at maths, go figure).

Gal ones technically have a lower weight rating because of the galvanising process.
That said, I have 4 gal ones I got off a mate I was going to use on a car trailer, so if you're interested in a swap for your two gal ones, I'm sure we can find some matching wheels to make you a set with what you have.
The wheels are out at Leppington
