The most curious aspect of the match was the refereeing by the Irish referee George Clancy. He penalised the All Blacks 12?7 which seemed to me to be a bizarre count given the fact that they were totally dominant in the set pieces and in the rucks and mauls. Towards the end of the match the ground resounded to the unusual sound of the referee being booed.
That's because McCaw and the rest of the Ull Blucks are always offside!!!!!!

Campo., love or hate him. He used to have a coffee shop in the Rocks, " goosestep', a few years ago the missus & I were in Sydney, saw his shop, went across, he was there. Ordered a coffee, he served us. We ignored him, which upset a middle aged lady, who said " don't you know who that is?" to which I replied " yeah, but we are Queenslanders" in my best disdainful voice. [ This is after he was tackled by THAT Qld winger who punched the ground beside his face.] I heard a chuckle, Campo came out, sat with us, & had a chat. A great afternoon, over coffee, got a photo , me & my mate Campo, sits on my wall . Rugby, gotta love it.

A blast from the past, Jeff Sayle. He coached the Dempster Cup Navy side, DDG's, I played for, back in the day. They were the guided missile destroyers, Perth, Hobart & Brisbane. Because the ships were very busy, they lumped the three together , with the hope at least one would be alongside, to form a team. Geoff had an unusual coaching style, his theory was suitable amounts of sweet sherry before the game put the team in the right frame of mind. [ perhaps it made up for lack of skill, all I know is we were the happiest side in the comp]

Great to see St Patricks, Shorncliffe old boy Drew Mitchell, play well in the semi final, against Argentina. We used to watch him playing for the 1st 15 at Curlew Park, and you could see he was special, even then. Well, one to go. The Wallabies have had arguably the most difficult lead in to the final, will they have the energy , and fitness, to make it a contest? Hard to say. Do they have another 80+ minutes left in them? Hopefully so. I sense a vulnerability in the All Black side, the Springboks showed the way. Just one more supreme effort from the Wallabies, and it's four more years boys.

I bet Jack the halfback could talk the ears off a bronze statue :D [ not a fully paid up member of the half back club if he couldn't] I have the utmost respect for the front row, ever since, after one game during which I continually kicked away possession, causing our forwards to amble all over the field chasing it, [ couldn't call it running ]our coach put me in the hooking position, for the next game. Cured the random kicking habit.
What they didn't realise is, back in my schoolboy rugby league days, my Dad , who played A Grade for Fortitude Valley, taught me the finer arts of cheating in a rugby league scrum [ they used to be contested.] EG, how to drop my bind, and reach into the opposition 2nd row. However, I was useless in the ruck & maul. Forwards are a different breed, front row forwards are a different species. :p I dips me lid. PS the wallabies can do it. With a bit of luck.

He may have moved from player to coach. I saw him at work the other day. You would have thought that his brother would have shouted him a trip to the World Cup. I know he is player/coach of the Army Aviation side when they compete in the Inter Brigade Comp. We never had this when I was playing. The highlight of my Rugby career was playing in a combined Army/Navy side against the British Army side in Cairns when I was in recruiting up there. If NZ play like they did in the last World Cup final we could win easily.

They were not in a pool, they were in puddle. That draw was a disgrace and should never be allowed to happen again. I was in London for the 1/4s and that was the feeling from everyone that they had a free ride to the final.
You could see we were walking wounded compared to a full strength All Blacks outfit. When we got to within 4 points they looked rattled. We hold a couple of those dropped passes and it would have been a totally different outcome.
Funny thing is that off all the games I watched in Italy, England and Phuket on the way home, the only fans that went off like pork chops and spoiled the whole show were Kiwis who demonstrated Little Country syndrome.
I am marrieds to a KIWI and even she was embarrassed by their behaviour.
