I am slowly progressing through the renevation of a 2a LWB. It has no compliance plates so I Was wondering if I could add rear bench seats before I take it to get a road wort he e.t.c and claim that they were in there from new?

Hi Steve
Side facing bench seats were optional extras from 1948, so yes you can fit them.
IIRC Rear seat belts were not a requirement during the production period of the SIIA.
As always I have to say, that sideways facing seats come with risks when carrying passengers because of the significantly increased risk of severe or fatal cervical spine injuries.

If I do decide to do this should I bee looking for original ones, and if so where from. I live way up in North Queensland, anyone know of a good place to get used parts? Alternativly can I install new ones and claim that I replaced the old ones during the restoration.

Hi Steve,
I've got one or two pairs of seats laying around for sale, all need new base cushions but otherwise decent condition.
Drop me a PM if you are interested.
Regards,
Matt

When looking for rear seats always state the wheelbase. The seats for a SWB are longer(only 1 per side) than the ones for a LWB.(2 per side). The shorter ones also fit S1 80".
