I put my puma 130 in for the oil pump recall, and got them to look at the backlash and gearbox rattle, from what I'm told it turns out the gearbox output shaft had significant wear so it was replaced, new rear axles, drive flanges, and they then found copper in the transfer case oil, so I'm getting a brand new transfer case fitted.. I didn't think these boxes gave too much trouble, has anyone had this issue?

never have i replaced/ repaired so many transfer cases (and those poorly fitted unlubricated adapter shafts) in any one model of landrover. Yes i have is the short answer. Likely the one they fitted back in there will also need to be replaced before too long 😠😠😠😠😑😑😑 sorry but the QC department was hiding behind the door when the vehicles were being fitted with these later lt230 cases.

What's your preferred solution Justin? One rebuilt by Ashcroft? Extended sump for cooling?
