Hi, today while the mrs was directing me reversing the camper trailer under the house we just moved into, I hit the low floor with my pride and joy. It hit in the top corner where the roof is folded down over the rear panel just above the left corner of the rear door. After a million expletives and a dummy spit, I thought it was the end of the world. It has folded the roof panel back about an inch. It's a 2003 defender. Is this easily fixed? Can it be fixed? End of my world? I wish I could lay full blame on mrs but I suppose I have to take some blame.

I would imagine it could easily be fixed if not you should easily be able to source a new roof and unbolt the old one and put the new one on if you have damaged the side panel with the small oval window in it that's easily replaceable as well only issue with that is you would have to get colour matched. It's certainly not the end of the world

its totally wrecked now, even if you try to repair it, it will leek and always remind you of your now ex. i mean she never backed the kids into the garage door did she so why did she do it to your defender? some relay latent phyco issues there! hope you sleep with one eye open?

post some pics, fire the wife, ( not like you need one now) buy a new defender. give me your old one :D

Sounds like it is still within factory specs :wasntme:
Leave as is so you can repeatedly tell the story in front of missus

Personally, I'd just leave it as is. I reckon you could get it looking pretty right if you attacked it with a hammer and dolly though.

The wife or the defender? :D

There is an option C:!
Most of the time that space in a defender is wasted, how about a external storage box like the rear corner ones? Space to stash a snatch strap and shackle. http://www.terrafirma4x4.com/mobile/productgroup.php?qsec=20&secname=Storage&catname=Storage%20Lockers&catId=99&grpname=Side%20storage%20lockers&grp=336
Or cut both sides the same and stick in a few square led work lights so it looks like you meant it to be that way. Keep roof panel but cut out rear vertical. :)
Also check the seals as the impact may have widened the gaps

I would start with this, take off the interior panels around that area and go at it from the inside and outside. Nothing to lose and it won't cost you anything. And then if that fails go with Plan B, whatever that may be.

I think that it adds character.

I'd leave as is and wear the battle scar with pride

options

1- if it doesn't leak leave it as feature

2. mark as suggested with wife markings

3. remove interior lining and with dead weight mallet and piece of carpet covered oregon percuss till straight or just about. The oregon goes on the outside.

Get a roof rack with a side and rear awning.

Problem solved!

Everything is fixable, I err rolled the missus Toyota hj45 in a flooded creek. The fiber glass roof peeled off and the side it landed on smashed into a chewed up mess and the tub folded in a few cm's off the inner wheel arch, and my ears are still ringing from the missus ranting on about me killing her car even though it was a few years ago. I got a second hand rood and side (bolt on) and I panel beat out the tub, it took quite a bit of time, but it came out looking perfect. Your roof will beat out perfect, just go slow. I would start off with a block of wood and hit the wood with a dolly on the outside. When you get close go slow and tap it into shape.
Good luck
Chris

The paintless dent removal guys could probably work wonders on that dent - especially if they can access the back end. If you can live with the paint damage - it could be quite a cheap fix. Might be worth a shot to see if a local paintless dent removal guy could fix.

This really can be made to look a lot better than this , you will never get it back to how It was because the metal has stretched . It needs the be pushed out , giving support to the area's around the damage , before any hammers go near It . I have seen sheet metal workers repair worse damage than this with good results . Give It a go ! If your still not happy look for a good second hand replacement , or renew . Good luck !!.. Jim

You just need a nikko pen. Draw an arrow to the damage and then write "Hers".

ALL FIXED! :D:D:D:D:D :wasntme:

I always remind my Mrs of the time she played dodgemcars with my 90! Lucky I bought that bullbar first ;)

EDIT: ooopssss didn't realise there was a 2nd page... sorry.
