Hi everyone,
Finally convinced myself that getting a Perentie for the farm is a good financial decision... Well, i just want one really and have managed to fudge the figures enough to justify it!

So i was just wondering what the going rate was at the last auction for a basic 4x4 with a winch was. I missed the end of the sale and therefore missed the prices.
Also i was curious what the turboed engine and 4 speed boxes were going for, as i wouldn't mind a few spares.

Not to fussed about cosmetic condition but want a recently rebuilt one, what should i look for?

Are people generally happy with their purchases? I will be downgrading from a V8 cruiser as it is an expensive vehicle to be driving around muddy paddocks all day, plus it uses more fuel than our 200 hp tractor, so obviously it's not like I am used to excessive comfort.

Also what's the feeling about when the auctions will end? Would like to get one, maybe even two if the price is right, fairly soon but don't want to pay extra as they start to dry up. I assume plenty of potential purchasers are sitting on their hands until the end..

Thanks for your help..

Add about 16% to that for what you pay

As a farm truck, for an extra $3k-$4k you'd get a 6x6 cargo with a large tray.

Oh, and one more thing, how much can they tow? Noticed the rear of the chassis doen't look as strong as the original..

Don't ask this question!

Here is the specs page for a GS without winch. (http://remlr.com/perentie-gs.html)

Plenty more info at remlr.com (http://remlr.com) as well.

Wish I hadn't! Surely they can tow more than that.. I suppose they can but just not legally.

I think that is the consensus. There has been some debate about it on here.

I am just guessing, but would 900kg be a trailer without electric breaks? I am sure they would be able to tow more with electric trailer breaks fitted.

No.

Current trailer rules:
0-750kg ATM unbraked
over 770kg-2000kg ATM override brakes
over 2000kg-4500kg ATM electric brakes with breakaway function.
Before 1981, the unbraked ATM was about 900kg I think.

Towing vehicle:
It's not about the trailer, it's about how much the vehicle can tow. For example, a VR Commodore with a heavy duty towing package fitted is only rated to tow 1600kg braked. Even if the trailer had electric brakes, it is still only rated to tow 1600kg.
That is a whole different debate covered elsewhere on this forum.

Might be making a trip to sydney for the next auction, 3 up there whereas only one in Melbourne. Started to think a FFR might be the go as I run a fair few things off the batteries at times. I might even look at a haulmark dual axle while i am there. Any idea what these have been going for?

Should be able to get one for around 4k? Although I have seen them go for as high as 5k. Good luck.
