Hi all
After the fiery demise of my beloved D3 HSE I have purchase a bog stock 2010 D4 TDV6 (2.7) white with black 18" rims.
To date I have fitted a traxide duel battery kit & optima D34 and a tekonsha electric brake controller. To be fitted are 265 60R18 D6972, GOE rock rails with stand off bars and GOE rods.

The car has the most basic radio with a smal LCD above the radio where on the D3 I had the HEMA HN6 mounted (the HN6 ended up being a melted blob of plastic)

I would like to have a decent media system (MP3, phone integration, reverse camera, CD & am/fm radio) with off road navigation, any suggestions on how or if I can achieve this or do I just accept the standard system and mount a new navigator somewhere else?

Thanks Bob

Can you find a wrecker with the upgraded system and fit it to yours????
From what I understand in the D4,the entertainment unit runs the second can bus system so it really needs to be retained.Commenents from those more in the know????

Hi LandyAndy

Thanks for that but would prefer to not use a factory gps if I can help it.

I have been looking at this Integrated GPS system (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-Land-Rover-Discovery-4-2010-2012-Car-DVD-Player-GPS-Naviga/32376480457.html'spm=2114.01020208.3.35.vWMQ4U&ws_ab_test=201526_5,201527_4_71_72_73_74_75,201409 _5) on Aliexpress - same thing can be found on ebay etc.
Pretty expensive, so I would hope it had great audio quality.

In regards to it running the 2nd CAN bus, you apparently don't remove it to install, you just remove the screen and mount the new one, keeping all the electronics plugged in etc.
Also, using a steering wheel control interface box, you still get to keep all the stock controls too apparently.

Please keep us informed. I too want to upgrade but that is an expensive piece of kit. But if it works with the existing controls then that's a major leap forward. I thought it was impossible to upgrade the inbuilt system.

Also - what is a steering wheel interface box  Does this link in the new system to the D4 some how?
