View Full Version : Heated Seats

On checking the engine compartment fuse panel, i noticed that the fuses for the FRONT and REAR seat heaters are installed.
The air conditioning control knobs don't have the option.
Question is, could the heaters be in place, but not connected, until you pay the fee for the option. Then they just change the control knobs and plug the harness in. ( My wife's bum gets cold on the leather ).
Any thoughts?

Unlikely. Plus the heated seat/s option would need to be enabled in the CCF (Car Configuration File).
A loving slap on her backside before she sits down will warm her up.

That would be followed by a not so loving slap on my head.
You really don't know my wife.

I just had a quick poke around under the front seats of my MY10 "without" heated seat, and there is an electrical connector on the seat that has no loom plugged into it - not sure at this point what it is, but I will see what I can dig up, once I get a photo of it. It may be that we need loom to the seats plus buttons and CCF? I do enjoy the heated seats in my '03 Saab 9-5, so it is something I will be definitely looking into for the D4

This is for the D3 but it might provide a starting point:

The heated seats in the D4 are switched on by two buttons on the dash, one per seat, there are three heat settings. The rear middle passenger seats are also heated.
It's a great option and heats the seats very quickly, I have not looked under the seat of a D4 without the heat option but I can tell you there is no room for anything under one with heated seats.

Thanks for the input, but based on the above information its seems
That I don't have the heated pads in place.
So cold bum in winter it is

I have heated seats in two other cars, but not in the Disco. Yep I do miss them a bit ... wouldn't mind the windscreen heater too, although perhaps the insurance would increase more for that ...
But for the seats, high quality Lambswool seat covers are better than heated seats. I have Windsor leather, but I still think I'll put in good quality lambswool. And its no fun putting in lambswool seat covers in a car with heated seats ...

I fitted sheepskin seat covers to the D4 so the leather on the seats wouldn't get discoloured from jeans. If I had black leather I would take the sheepskin covers off, they make a very comfortable seat not so comfortable.

I dunno Terry ................... I've got black leather interior and have also fitted good quality black sheepskin covers. I've found the seats to be more comfortable with the sheepskins fitted. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/09/93.jpg
For anyone who wants something to keep their rear end warm without heated seats ...................... perhaps ask LandyAndy where he gets his tight leather pants from. I hear that they "hold in the heat". https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/09/229.jpg

Hah hah ... the lambswool I have in my Prado are terrific, and great in the Snow. They've been in the Prado since 1997, and are warm when up the snow.
My Disco has black leather! They are comfortable!! But I cannot see how adding lambswool would make them less comfortable ... I think they'd make the seat better temperature wise, they'd absorb persperation etc., they'd not get as hot and they'd be warmer to sit in, plus they'd a little give or softness.
Looks like we'll continue on not being satisfied !!

I've had 3 x 7 series BMWs, 2 SAAB 9000s, 2 Range Rover P38s and now the D3, all with leather.
EVERY car has been better with sheepskin covers over the leather.
I don't understand the mad desire for leather in the car or at home!
Its initially cold in winter and hot in summer!
Sheepskin all the way!!!

Love my leather seats in both the Territory and the D4.
The D4 must have better glass than the Territory, the seats dont get nearly as hot in the D4.
Cant understand you blokes having a fetish with sheep, cows are much nicer.
Im sure Brian will now post some of my leather goodies:):):):):)
Its OK folks he buys them for me and pays me good money to model them for him.How else does a lowly shire worker afford a new D4 :wasntme::wasntme::wasntme::wasntme:

Coldest place in the world is the main street of Goulburn when the wind is blowing of the snow!
