I notice the Rugby League grand final is an all Queensland affair. At least we southerners won't have to put up with the usual Queenslanders moaning and groaning about "we wuz robbed" or "it's rigged" or "the ref's are favouring NSW teams" etc.

Just as an aside, 31 of the 34 players in the grand final, had their start in the Qld Intrust cup. Which means, Qld is getting stronger in rugby league. Which means, the NRL had better start propping up our poor relatives in NSW, before the AFL slips under their guard. Don't worry, we will send you southern mob some good coaches, to get you up to standard. :D

Pardon my ignorance but in what year was the AFL S.O.O. 1977?
There was an officially ARL sanctioned S.O.O i.e. QLD v NSW played in Bougainville during WW2. My dad was a spectator.
There was also a cricket comp, in which my dad played for QLD, involving all states playing for the "Bougainville Cup", The cup was in the QLD Cricketers Club but has since been lost. A real shame as it was part of our history.

I think I heard somewhere that there was a football game played last night, something about a grandfinal or something, I don't know I was busy polishing my wooden spoons (both of them, Knights and Jets) for the trophy case.

They said (so rumour has it) that was the best grand final ever. I don't know about that, the 1999 grand final between Newcastle and Manly takes some beating.:p
