g`day

Long time lurker here but finally got myself an RFSV in last month's auctions. Pics will happen once i've done more than put the landscaping gear on the bonnet [as will posts to the 'what have you done...' thread]

Already have a list of things that need sorting but to start with I was wondering if anyone could assist/advise me reagarding the winch. When i go to move the big handle thing from horozantal to vertical it moves maybe 20 degrees and i can see the winch drum being pushed to one side but then the action stops. Is there a step i'm missing [engine off and have tried with the transfer selecter in neutral and engaged]???

Thanks in advance

Hi Tomsie and welcome. The dog clutch lever will only engage in 2 positions 180 degrees apart. Grab the cable and pull it out slowly while holding pressure on the lever. When it's in the right position it will slot in and engage with the drum. You'll work it out. Use the clutch to stop it pulling as you can't disengage the dog clutch with load on it.

the alternative method you can use only after pulling the cable all the way out for maintenance is to leave the engine running tcase in neutral an the main box in first, maintain steady effort on the lever and it will jump into its engaged position.

DOT NOT attempt this under load.

if for for some reason you wnd up with a bound cable you will have to use this method to get it to engage again but you shoudl do it with someone riding the clutch.
