Gday All,

So they been around awhile now and I haven't come across to many threads that are showing many issues so my question is are they as good as they seem.

The better half is keen on them so am looking at different options of what we may do.

So we would be looking at a diesel, that is either mid range spec or higher , so without having studied them much other than what I have read here am keen to hear what owners have to say.

Thanks and Cheers Ean

In my neck of the woods, only woman and oldies seem to own them.

Well I would be buying it for the old woman :wasntme:

Oops glad she don't look at the forum otherwise the dog kennel would be a bit cramped having to share it with me.

Nice car to drive. Tombie thoroughly enjoyed his loaner I believe. Only thing I really dislike is the size of the rear window but they do have reversing cameras.

I had one as a loner as well. Rear boot is a bit small. Drives really well. Options list is very pricey. I hope you get a good deal. I built one up on the LR website and with all the good bits it was a $100000. That was when they first came out and LR couldn't keep up with demand. There is a good Top Gear episode on them and they gave it a good work out off road. It seemed to go alright. No low range but a 9 speed auto with a very low first.

Mum and Dad got a 2 door pure somethingorother. 6 speed manual, 2wd. I think I've done more kms in it then them. The cars only got maybe 10000km on it since mid december and I put 6k of those on in the first 2 weeks when I borrowed it to go to Sydney. Very nice car to drive, nice and zippy although with the manual if you let the revs drop off too far it will get a bit of turbo lag (coming from the puma i get caught out using 3rd where I shouldn't). They (My parents) don't have low range or 4x4, they don't need it. Cruises nicely at 110km/hr and still gets great fuel economy, sorry I don't remember the figures, although when I jumped in it the other day it had 5.5l/100km average showing and that would be combined. Great ride, great handling; although I haven't pushed the performance side with it being mums car.

Steering feedback is sufficient, some cars i've driven give you nothing, this thing feels like you are actually doing something with the wheel! :D

I have to agree with others that the boot feels too small, especially if your going away in it.

Back seat.... ummm... no idea never been back there! lol. Front seats are pretty good, Mum has all leather so that is nice.

The GPS (same as all the other RR models) I think it's an average unit to use and I'd prefer my HN7 to be hanging off the windscreen. Stereo is amazing. Controls on steering wheel/dash are easy to see/use and nice and simple! so stupid little buttons like the defender stereo.

Reversing camera is handy.
The talk to control the stereo/gps etc actually works! Blueteeth and handsfree works well.

Overall, I really like driving the car; no I wouldn't buy one for myself BUT if Mum said "we don't need our car, here, you have it" I wouldn't sell it (for the same sort of money I'd get a Jag XE). I think it's a great run about, nice to travel in if you don't carry too much stuff.

If you have any specific questions just sing out.

Could consider Disco Sport if more carrying capacity is required. It's the same platform.

I agree, I think in the NT a jag would be a better ride. I think in Sydney the Evoque would be better.:D

I think so. The FL2 also has the same motor. I haven't driven the Evoque, but my preference would be for the last 2015 FL2s with a bigger cargo space, bigger windows & D4 styled interior. They are still available new at half the price of a RRE.

There are a few up here Pedro.

However 'Mrs Austral' has fine Land Rover tastes ;)

I own an Evoque Sport and I can tell you she is a beaut! Sure there are a few little things that aren't quite to my liking but overall, though pricey, she was a good purchase.

My previous Landy was a Discovery and while it had all the bells and whistles and is made for tougher distances and terrain, the Evoque is just a sexier, more sleek version of it and while I don't plan on taking her on the roughest of terrains, it would definitely be able to handle herself.

Moving into the city probably had something to do with it, but I am glad of my purchase and have no problems with it at all.

Cheers,
Kevin

Ean,

One of the guys at work has one... very nice to ride in around town. Not sure I'd want one for my use, but certainly still a really comfortable vehicle, more capable than most think.

If you are going to buy a "mid range spec or higher" Evoque though.... why not do it properly....

Overfinch Evoque (http://www.overfinch.com/evoque/) :p

We've got one.

It was bought as the bosses car, but I find excuses more and more often to drive it.
It's the first auto we've ever owned, bought primarily cause of the low first gear (which has been dead handy), but we usually just drive it in sport mode on the console and use the paddles to change gears.
Handles very well, great throttle response in sand mode and nicely weighted steering in Sport, I find Drive a bit to light.
Rear window view is rubbish but compensated for by good vision using the mirrors and the rear view camera.

Things that irk me. Since you have to pull the fob out of your pocket to open door, it should have a key to start it, so you always know where the fob is.
The interior boot release has been inadvertently hit getting in and out of the car.
The boot is tiny, but we knew that, and have another car to cover that situation.

And thats it - I think its a fantastic drive. Its not a full off roader but its a great dirt road car and a genuine joy to drive.

Certainly did... Have had 2 now...

First one we had for 4 days and did a little over 3,000km while we had it - toured the Hills while in Adelaide, Clare valley on the way back to Whyalla and then back to Adelaide a couple of days later after a few more trips up here.

The ride is firm and controlled yet not uncomfortable and the SD4 is a great little engine - plenty of poke...

This is under decel (was at $1.80 moments earlier)... Tested on a private track... :)

Yes, we would have one as the second vehicle (likely be the next one in the household).
