Still can't work out why Land Rover make these things with black roofs. Has to be the dumbest thing possible for Australian conditions. I like the metallic orange paint though. Will look amazing on the cappuccino strip in Fremantle. Even better if it is a 90 so you can get into those hard to park tight car bays!
Regards Warrick.

So funny - I got a MY15 110 Montalcino Red (Metalic) with a white roof and the wife hates the white roof (I love it) - I think she wanted the same colour all over.

I guess it comes down to personal preference!

Cheers,
Col.

Its not mine Warwick, I just noticed it parked at a tyre place I was walking past.
I tend to agree with you that it looks a bit gay, I thought someone on here would be interested as didn't realise they were in oz yet.
There's all sorts of people in Freo Warwick, a viewpoint like yours just proves you need to get out more.

black roofs look ok on certain colour combinations, but agreed, here in australia it's got to be white! Plus it's just not a land rover without a white roof! :D

Yea I don't know if i like the orange colour... i think i prefer the greeny heritage colour

If you want an Adventure you have no choice but a black roof, I think it looks good but I'm biased!

Yes, Adventures are in Aus now.
Saw a grey one at ULR yesterday, & I will be seeing my friend's one, which was delivered to him a couple of days ago, tomorrow.

Black roof, im over it, let it be. But now a contrast colour rear door! Could be crash repair or maybe an oddball from the factory.

Seeing as its final edition, would it be a bad idea to fix the rear door?

What's this?! The bonnet is mismatch too! *insert tongue in cheek emoticon here*

In some ways, good job its almost over, whatever would they have done next?

Hmm on second thoughts, the adventure edition looks pretty good.

I'm pretty sure this is the "Paul Smith" edition... 1940's meets Gen Y ...:)

There was an Adventure Edition 110 in the Land Rover Southern car lot over the weekend. It's a nice looking truck!

I was sneaking a peek for my own 110, which it turns out was still at the port... which means I don't get it until next week now... which means I can't take it down south this weekend /rant :p

I hear they sell Land Rovers in places that aren't Australia too. I like the black roof, I think it balances out nicely with the black alloys.

Of course a black roof isn't going to be as cool in summer, but since when did any Defender owner think in terms of practicality?

I would have like to have seen the Adventure done traditional, to parallel the heritage, i.e Africa, sandy/yellow color , as per Born Free ( had to google :( )
and the ilk.

Someone will shoot me down and say the Born Free LR was green or something, but you know the color i mean

Orange = g4 adventure.

If only they made one last camel trophy adventure. G4 still going though, they do it on bicycles now?

Problem is, it's not the same orange! Dunno why they didn't do it that colour?

Could that be attributed (at least in part) to the shape, angle and size of the glass? I used to find that if I parked my Ford Focus rear to the sun it would stay cooler (huge windscreen on those).

If you like black, then that is what you should get. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

It's best to compare "apple with apple", color preferences aside, a black car will absorb more energy than a lighter colored car. Dark cars with very good insulation and air conditioners will be cooler than other white cars that are not so well insulated or air conditioned. It's fairly well accepted in industry that lighter colored paints make for cooler structures and vice versa.

In a quest for greater energy efficiency and improving the mico climate of cities a lot of study has gone into the colors and coating of buildings in particular.

"High levels of air pollutants found in densely populated areas are often blamed for interfering with ozone imbalances, but new studies are now linking some of these effects to the solar absorption that occurs in buildings and roofing materials. This is directly affected by the light reflectance value of the paints and coatings that overlay these structures. New developments are being made in the paint and coating"

Hellepont tankers; MT Hellespont Alhambra, picture below.

"also by the white painted upper hull reflecting the sun's energy. The inert gas system also increases safety. Keeping down the cargo temperatures also minimizes hydrocarbon emissions.[2

Example; all solar water heaters, the heat absorbers for the water are black.
If you have a powerful air conditioner, or live somewhere the climate is mild, you probably won't notice the difference. cheers simmo

Had this Defender Adventure in the workshop today for a wheel carrier fitting.
It belongs to an LROCV member and by the sound of things he was very lucky to get his hands on one, only about 30 imported. He missed out on a Heritage 90, but is pretty happy with what he ended up with.
It looks awesome in the flesh, better than in the photos, the paint is more of a 'burnt orange' look.
The bash plates under the sills are fairly significant, and a quick look underneath revealed enough support from steel brackets that they should be able to take a bit of a beating. The down side is they prevent the fitting of sill tanks, and I think they will also prevent fitting of some sliders that would share the same space.
I'm not sure if it's standard on the Adventure, but this one had a full leather interior, including high back front seats, back seats and even the door panels.........sorry, forgot to take pics of the inside.
It was also fitted with Nolden LED head lights.

Overall, a great looking Defender.

Cheers, Murray

Gotta say I do quite like the orange and black design of the Adventure. However still not convinced with the 'Defender' lettering on the hood. The bloody things a 'Land Rover' in my book, and they should have badged them that way until the end.

Did that Adventure come without winch, snorkel and roof rack? I thought those were parts of the Adventure package? If its only the paint job, what are buyers forking out the extra bucks for?

Cheers

Alan

So...

Had the wifes 90 serviced last week and had a look at the Adventure that was sitting in the shop...

For the $$$

You get the 90/110 choice...

a Black roof, bonnet and back door
the (cool looking) grill in black
the headlight surrounds in black
those mill finish rims
Alloy shift knobs with leather gaiters
alloy and leather door handles
alloy door lock buttons
leather trim on dash and doors
perforated leather seats
Front skid plate

If you choose side steps you don't get the side plates.

And you don't get the roof rack shown in all the literature.

While its a very nice vehicle... I'm glad I declined to order one - we got a lot more in "Ike" for a heck of a lot less... And can exceed the Adventure spec for far less...

For the price I believe it should come with a Rack, winch, driving lights, choice of bar, dual battery etc.... A true "Adventure spec"

And then $5000 cash back.

The dealers are the only ones having the 'Adventure'.
