Hello All,
I have decided to get back into the saddle and I would like a mountain bike that has dual suspension. I would like to be able to get off the bitumen and ride trails even if I have to drive to get to a decent slope. I live in Bundaberg where it is rather geographically challenged ;)
I am now in my fifties and I used to race road cycles back in my teens and twenties. I used to live in Goulburn NSW so there were plenty of hills to train on.
Anyway, after sorting out my contact lens issues I now have a set that is dust proof :).
I got put off my last return to the saddle when the smallest speck of dust could blind me. I found that it was not fun trying to see when I had cars zooming past only centimetres from my handle bars, while they were going between 60 and 100 Klms per hour. The novelty wore off that pretty quickly. I tried going to the gym and it bored me to tears.
I am 185 centimetres tall and weigh over 100 kgs :o. I have also been sitting on my arse studying a PhD for longer than I care to admit. Not conducive to weight loss at all.
I would like a bike less worth less than $2000 but one with dual suspension and a 21 inch frame. Something that will last but not working at a competitive level.
What brand and model would people recommend? I live in Bundaberg and I would be happy to go to Brisbane to get the bike.
Kind Regards
Lionel
