Hi All,
Thought i might post here I've got a quite original 1950 Series 1 that was purchased in 1972 off the original station it was sold to by it's first owner. I purchased it off the second owner. At one stage it has been fitted with a spread bore 2.0L.
Because the vehicle has been registered continuously since 1950 I had a thought Queensland Transport might still have this on there records. I rang up a contact and they told me TRAILS was saying Engine Number: 06106683
That's it!I've checked with the first owners son and there is no Land Rover stuff at the station. So no engine. My thoughts this engine was taken out in 1972 onwards and changed for the Spread bore as they retained the Original gearbox, Dynamo, Carb.
The second owners property was held by them until around 2000 when they sold up and had a clearing sale i am told by the auctioneer that there was some Land Rover stuff and it went to people in Rockhampton, Townsville and possibility other places. I have no idea what was there but if anyone out there has a square sump 1950 engine laying around can you check the number!
