I finally had a chance to pull off the air cleaner to see what type of carby is on the Rangie I bought. It is a Stomberg WW and the only other marking I can find is "213".

Does anyone know anything about these. I would say this carby is pretty much worn out. I have been having problems with it running rich and flooding when on a hill. It runs ok up a hill but will not idle and is hard to start on a hill.

I could easily get a change over but I don't want to waste my money if it is the type of carby that is causing the problems and not just because it is worn. If I have to I will get a new manifold and go back to the original twin Strombergs.

Any comments?

i dont know if its the same, but the 186s in my landy had a ww stromi fitted. i've got it lying around so if you need spares. also got workshop manuals for it.

they were fitted to the 186's monaro motors and the 253 v8 donks

yep, I have a pretty good one from a 253 stashed in the shed that I was going to use on a Jeep years ago.....

From what I understand, just like a 350 Holley, they will never be anywhere near as good as CD Strombergs off road. These are the ones similar to SU's that where fitted stock.
Do a search on Outerlimits Rover board, I seen to recall a few threads on there about them.

The original strombergs often come up on ebay - particularly under Jag listings - there have even been new ones - all very cheap. Might need rejetting to suit RR but still relatively cheap.

I have found out a little more. I have been told it is the carby from the Leyland P76 motor. If this is the case then the carby should be ok for offroad work so I might get it reco'd and see what happens.
