sailun tyres-- anyone used them?

Shopping for a set of AT tyres for Bear, bloke today where I went in for a quote sells multiple brands incl dunlop '/bridgstones/hankooks/coopers etc etc--lot of brands. I asked for a set of good tyres with AT tread that he would be happy with on his 4wd for a reasonable price.

He points me to these SAILUN tyres. Says he has been to the factory and they are serious about quality etc, claims to already have about 25,000k on his 4wd set.. I was a tad dubious.. (never heard of them)

Out I go and sure enough his vw dual cab pollution factory (I mean his dual cab VW :twisted: ) has a set of these on and they look good.

they are 10 ply, pattern seems OK and according to him reasonably quiet. He reckons should last 70 - 80K !!

load index is 120/116 which equals about
(120) 1400kg per tyre
(116) 1250kg per tyre <-the weight of an unladen 1956 series 1 (4wd)

Speed is S rating which is max speed of 180 kph (not happening with my 110!!)

.......................and theyre $165 each Fitted and balanced...

getting very tempted...

anyone have any experience with these? good or bad?
please tell!!

i believe they are a very hard compound. traction on the black may not be that good

I believe they sound like VERY good value for money.

At $165 I can't see how you can go wrong.

Most "known and trusted" are double that price, so if they only last half as long you're in balance.

I honestly could not praise the set of 697's I had on my D2.

By sliding out in the wet on cheap tyres you could go very wrong! I bought my current car with cheap tyres and did not feel safe AT ALL in the wet. Braking and cornering were always a gamble. I wouldn't buy cheap tyres unless they had good trusted reviews.

That said I dont want to discourage anyone from buying them. I want someone to try them to give first hand experience! :p If they perform well they're a bargain

Had sailuns on the mrs car, they seemed fine, didn't keep it long enough to see what sort of wear we got. They make truck tyres as well, they are not an unknown brand and for that price I would have them.

my 697's slid out in the wet on roundabouts , slid out on gravelly bends , and threw stones out behind them.

the KL71's were superior in all aspects.

it would not be hard to equal the 697's which are currently one of the more popular A/T's on the market.

I would be prepared to try the Sailuns........not yet ready though

Wow, I was actually looking at these tyres today in 275/65/R18, hence my search for 'Terramax A/T' leading me here.

I'm casually looking atm, but these are great value. No bad reviews found.

However, it's on a Sailun website, so make of that what you will. Plus its not about 4WD tyres.

Sailun is a Chinese company started in 2002.
I've seen their Atrezzo advertised in English LR mags.
