I would like to replace my winch rope. It is about 5 years old.

Looking at ebay, I can get 10mm x 30m for about $180. Ring ARB or from Dynamica Rope - Stronger than steel (http://www.dynamicarope.com.au/dproducts.htm) it's about $500 + for same size rope.

Why the difference in price? It is just down the quality?

Warn actually recommend replacing rope every 12 months. Now that can be an expensive hobby if it's only used to recover your mates.

Maybe I should go back to steel cable?

Thanks

Pretty sure I did a thread on the subject......in recovery section. Thank didn't follow my own advice.....and yes I was trying to get my head around it all as well.

Agree re: steel, it's cheap and if you maintain it and use it correctly it should have less failures and dyneema.

There are varying specs so make sure you are comparing the same things.
