Hi Guys,

I have a 2013 130 and the fuse for the entertainment system/clock keeps blowing as soon as I try to push a new one into the slot.

It might just be coincidence, but I got bogged and a triton snatched it out and that's when it seems to have happened.

Maybe my defender caught a disease from the triton.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Pull the dash out and wriggle the wires to each of the radio and clock and then disconnect each one at the unit one at a time to see if you have a short in the unit. If it is a constant fault it should not be hard to isolate, but if it is not it will be a Lot harder. I had the same problem with the instrument panel and it turned out to be a small wire that went from the ignition to the rear window heater switch on the panel which had rubbed on the frame of the radio and shorted out and blown the fuse. This took out a lot of functions.
Best of luck.
Lindsay.

Thanks Lindsay. It's a constant fault so I hope it is easy to find. Is it difficult to remove the dash?

if its a 2013 is it still under warranty?

my cd stops playing for no apparent reason BUT if I push to radio works fine,
only happened a few times but obviously an internal fault... I reported it early and they offered to change it but it hadnt happened for a while so I said dont bother, this week its happened twice!

Anyway if its warranty covered start there.

(or is it daylight savings freaking your clock out  )

Just an idea, but I think this fuse also supplies a purple live feed which goes to behind the the rear drivers side wheel, and ends in a socket, which also supplies all wires for towing electrics. Maybe snatching has somehow damaged the tow socket electric loom (if you have one)?

Mark

Nat, there are two screws in the front of the panel, remove them and then get a blade screw driver and pry at the bottom and then at the sides to free the panel from the Spring clips that hold it in. You may need to use a bit of force to get it off. Quite simple after you have done it.
Best of luck.
Lindsay.

Earlier defenders, the horn also comes from the same fuse (#2 ??) is it also the same in the Pumas ?
