What is the best way to protect the carpet in the cargo area when fitting a drawer system & also just general stuff for off road ie Canning/Maddigan etc, any clues?

I use some off-cut carpet from when we did the loungeroom in the house.

Cut to shape, including holes for access to tie-downs etc.

Have done this in a few vehicles now - works for me, and when I pull it out, the original carpet is always like new.

If you are fitting a drawer system, you do need to look at a false floor. There is a thread on the forum re a home made drawer set, including the false floor. The existing cargo tiedowns are used . I have removed the centre panels and fitted a false floor into that gap. I can reinstall the OE panels in minutes, and there is no damage to the panels. The more you use the cargo area and modify it, the greater the chance of damage. All you can do is minimise it.

I used carpet (black) from Clark Rubber, cut it to shape and looks totally original.

I put a fake floor in which sits on the tie down points - no damage to carpet so far..
