Starting to make a bit of a list of parts, just wondering where are the best places?

I need a complete wiring harness.
Body panels.
I also need to rebuild the engine and box.
Also other bits and bobs.

Going to more than likely replace all the fasteners with metric stainless and most of the other jobs will be done locally!

Help appreciated.

I think it all comes down to what you need and how quickly. I think for panels it would be best to ask on here because someone will either have what you need or know someone who has a spare. A harness should be able to be made up by any good auto electrician, I once asked the one in Virginia and he said he'd make one to whatever make I wanted. If you need a lot of parts than it might be cheaper and easier to get a parts car. I find that there are a lot of old Series on Gumtree and eBay, some I think are too good for parts but you see some pop up that have the bulkhead or chassis completely rusted out and they would be a good salvage for body panels and other bits like lights.

PM me if you want with a rough list of things and I might be able to help you out, I've got my SIIa 109 in the back still, I won't be able to keep all the parts.

Nathan.

These people make vintage harnesses

Vintage Wiring Harness - High Quality Replacement Automotive Wiring Harnesses (http://www.vinwire.com.au/)

They'll customise it to suit your needs too.

As for the ho hars, it's rumoured they have twice as many Land Rovers as were ever built in their back yard

I've used Land Rover Parts before for the hard to find parts and they seemed good to me quicker than expected turn around.

I would think most would source their parts from the wide world web now, including the avenues already listed.

It's worth remembering that some parts are still available from Land Rover themselves. When I did mine I got a few bits through Land Rover, still in the factory boxes/packaging and all  mind you, they were items that have probably been sitting on the shelf for twenty years in the back of the factory but they were exactly what I needed when I got them :D
