Hi all
Just want to share my project of building a set of rock slider/sill protectors.

I aquired a set of range rover l322 side steps from a burnt out car, and use it a base frame to mount back to my car. See photos.

I fitted a set genuine side steps to my L322 and I wouldn't think their mounting system of 6mm bolts would be suitable for what one calls real rock sliders! certainly not to take the weight of the car on a big rock!
and the frames of the side steps are pretty light; I'm 115kg and I feel them flex a bit when I stand on them.

Hi,
You are right, however l had no intention of going over large rocks, it's mainly for the not extreme track just a general protection.

All
for those of us with no skills (!) and ability to make our own.......RR44TDV8 and I met with Ben from APT Fabrications in Brisbane last week and had a good chat around what he can do for L322 owners. He has the same type of RS's available now as the D3 and D4 BUT he has a new design coming out early 2016 which he thinks will look better and are stronger; I have volunteered my car as test mule for two weeks early 2016 and once all sorted he will start marketing them. So, watch this space. Price? No idea - but D4's are currently around $920 as a rough guide.

The sliders in this thread look pretty good:

Hopefully he can come up with some stuff, a bull bar would be mint though. Was it clear to apt that l322's do not have a separate chassis in comparison to the d4 and rrs? This is the only issue with mounting a stronger slider

Hmmm, to be honest I'm not sure - I assume he knows (he is a Landie guy after all!).

Unfortunately (well better in my mind) even most landy guys assume they are all the same car with a different body on top...all are surprised to find out how little parts are shared

Is there any update to APT making rocksliders?

He has been focussed on D3/4 full underbody kits so is behind on L322 I gather (that was a May update email); worth chasing him again soon I suspect, Gordon at GOE will have his ready November - see his website for details of underbody protection pieces too.
Cheers

Do all L322's (i.e. the TD6; the pre 2010 TDv8; the 2010 TDV8 and onwards) all have the same mounting / underbody constrauct down the side by the doors (where the EOM steps and a rockslider might attach?); or did LR change this too?

Also did the Pre 2010 TDV8 have seat airbags - what considerations would need to be made for seat airbags?

Did anything eventuate here? Considering giving APT a call this week.

Yeah, they are v expensive and probably would cost a bucket to ship due to weight. Local fab looks like the only way to go at this stage.
