About the same as I feel about the legalised chucking of Mulalitheran and that blond tipped tosser whose name escapes me at the moment. And I'm old enough to remember the crucifixion of Ian Meckiff. :(

And was at the MCG when Bill Lawry was roundly booed from one end of the ground to the other for refusing a runner. :)

That could easily be considered a personal attack on another member.

However as inc suggests it was an attempt at humour, lots of people don't get my Scorpio-monkey sense of humour! :BigCry:

I find it exceedingly funny how many blokes treat their cricket as a form of religion and anyone who comments on that aspect sacrilegious. Surely that has to be a focus of comedy! :D

I get your humour Diana, after all, we both have Pugs and you need a sense of humour to own them.... ;)

By the way, I LOVE Test Cricket, but I'm ok with people hanging it on me for it - I find it funny that people can't see the excitement in the game. I can sit there for 5 days straight and happily watch every ball.

Hmmm, when I write it down like that, I'm not sure who the sane one is after all...

Basically, NSW got robbed of the points for the match because the SCG groundskeepers need to be shot...

Being from Melbourne of course I don't mind the points being handed over, but I'd be ****ty if I was a Blues supporter.

Actually, I should say Sydney groundskeepers in general as the NZ tour match was called off in Blacktown for the same reason.

On paper it looks as though the West Indies should go home now, they are on a hiding to nothing. But, if you have a closer look, no Starc, Johnson, Pat Cummins has stress fractures in his back, Coulter-Nile is underdone, Siddle suffered back spasms in the 3rd test against NZ, Pattison has back & hamstring problems, & is laid up sick, Khawala has hamstring problems, and recently had a knee reconstruction. Add to that Stand by bowler for the test in Hobart, Boland , is not up to test standard [ Geoff Lawson's opinion], Hazlewood is being rested..... Perhaps a shock result may be on the cards......Or not.

Absolute debacle....

Complete waste of time - how are they going to be able to get crowds to this sort of crap?

Did you listen to the ABC broadcast of the cricket [ I prefer that to the TV.] The West Indian commentator gave a good heads up on the problem with Windies cricket. Seems it starts & finishes at the top. W.I. cricket has at least 19 members on their board, each island has at least two, and all look after vested interests. Corruption is rife, more infighting than a political convention, promising young players are not nurtured , the list goes on. There have been three internal investigations into W.I. cricket , each coming to pretty much the same conclusions, and recommendations. W.I. cricket paid lip service to the reports, then ignored them.

I remember when the West Indies used to give us a flogging , they were the best in the World. Test cricket needs them at their best, or it may die a natural death. One way to go was suggested sponsoring up & coming young Windies players in our grade comp. , give them experience in two day cricket, at a good standard. Then make it worth the effort for them to play test cricket, rather than T20, or the Indian hit & giggle.

Currently watching the Cricket from the MCG, 2nd Day, Aussies 3/460,...have ground the west indies into the dirt (no problem with that at all!!,...Voges 69, Smith 80,....and they're STILL just taking the occasional single,,,,,surely now, they could have a whack,....no big hitting at all,......BBBOOORRIIINNGGG.
What are these guys after?...getting their NUMBER of runs up, setting new records for THEMSELVES,....what about some "entertaining" cricket,.....surely at 3/460,.....it's time!!

Practice. Spending time in the crease during a test is invaluable experience, as well as confidence building. Test cricket is not T20. And they will need that confidence when we play N.Z. in N.Z.

Agree with Bob - it's not T20, and I hope it never goes that way. A well put together innings - no matter how far in front you are - shouldn't degenerate into a slog fest. Test Cricket is not boring - I listened to the entire test on my little transistor radio while camping. :). It would be nice to see a closer game, but the Aussies played the while match very sensibly and very well.

Oh, and while we're talking T20, I'm watching a game now. My opinions on this form of the sport are well known, but I thought I'd try it again. Can't say I've seen anything that is thrilling me at all, but I'll persist and watch the whole match in case it gets better at some point. Batsmen throwing their wickets away having a slog at a loose ball isn't my idea of good Cricket.
