Has anyone on here applied the MicroDOT security system to their Defender. I am thinking it might be a good addition to my new 90. I'm having a few problems with my broadband - it's in skinny mode, & can't access individual tabs of MicroDOT Australia, like the vehicle kit contents tab or FAQ tabs.

Will follow this thread as my other half suggested I look in to this for my camera gear since a fellow member on here has just recently lost all his camera gear from being stolen out of a car

Not a bad idea Lou, Mum had all her camera gear stole out of their then 110 wagon when stopped at a motel o/night a number of years ago (I think it was Pt Augusta ?)

Haven't heard of too many (any ?) Deefers pinched here in Oz though. (unlike the UK)
Hell, I often leave mine unlocked having lived in the country for a very long time, but not too smart now living in a city (although I did lock the keys in the car this morning and had to call the NRMA. )

I applied the Microdot vehicle kit to my Defender 90 today. Spent about an hour wheeling myself around underneath on my floor crawler, cleaning off inside of the wheels, gearbox, transfer case engine & numerous other bits. Mainly just dust, but there was a small oil leak on the gearbox, surprise, & the wheels were pretty thick with black brake dust. Than applied the microdot's which come in a water based aerosol. The dot's themselves measure 0.3 mm, so you get quite a few hundred of them.

Covered just about every removable component on the vehicle, even radio on the back - it has the removable facia panel, & the GPS/dashcam. Applied the subtle stickers that warn that the vehicle is now fitted with Microdot security & have finished off by registering the unique code with Microdot, so hopefully one layer of protection - snap off steering wheel next to do, but to be honest I'm very happy with the driving position with the standard leather covered wheel. Looks like the Exmoor wheel boss will bring the steering wheel about 20mm closer.

As Rick says - Defenders are rarely stolen in Australia (of course this does not mean it never happens), and even if it is stolen, it is very unlikely to be for parts, as the market is simply not big enough.

On the other hand, anything valuable in it is just as likely to be stolen as from any other vehicle, so this is where microdots will be more useful.
