Folks,
Heading your way from the UK for Christmas - is there any LR type things happening around the city that may be of interest during the festive season?
Would love to travel further afield in your country but not sure her ladyship will allow such freedom !

Let us know a few more details about your visit,
- How long will you be here?
- When are you arriving?
- Where are you staying?
- What are you interested in (apart from Land Rovers)?
- what Land Rover experience/involvement have you had?
- etc.
Once we know a bit more I'm sure some suggestions will be forthcoming.

Jeez mate it's either too hot or too wet to be doing Land Rover things at this time of year.
Perhaps a beach trip.
BBQ's or cricket in the aircon or with good fan on is the spirit.

He's coming to Sydney, not the Gold Coast, where although at that time of year you may need to pick your day, you can still get out and enjoy various outdoor activities. :D

It's never too hot or too wet to get out an explore the country.
But, if you need to stay in the city, I'd say you'll be hard pressed to find anything LR-oriented.
If you make it up to the Central Coast then give me a yell, you're welcome to come and tinker with Monty, I've got a couple of jobs that need doing ;-)

You blokes should be careful what you say. He might be Santa incognito.
Beach day would be good but he'd need a bucket of sun cream.

Arriving 18/12/15, leaving 6/1/16.
Probably going to be based around Sydney, may be able to get a little way out of the city, depends on her ladyship's mood.
Other interests are limited (again due to her ladyships authority) but revolve around cars and beer.
Know my way round most of the D2 TD5's and how to keep them going. Done a lot of lanes in the UK.
Looking for anything LR related that might be happening otherwise it's going to be a cultural visit.
Any help appreciated !!

That's helpful.
I'll speak to a few people and see if we can organise something.

He said he'd like to travel further afield.......
The Gold Coast is kinder weather wise than Sydney is at that time of year.
I grew up in the bush and wouldn't take a first time UK traveller out there in the summer.
My english neighbours , after 30yrs , still can't handle summer heat well , hence my comments.

We'll be having our annual brunch meeting with a few friends on 12th December to discuss the past year's trips and plans for the coming year. I realise that this will be a week before you arrive but I will suggest a day trip with a bit of 4WDing and a bush walk to a nice little canyon plus some other interesting places. I'm sure we could find a couple of spare seats for you if you are interested.
Suitable date would be either Tues 29th or Wed 30th December and we would need to leave fairly early from the Hornsby area.
Let me know if you'r interested and I'll finalise the arrangements.

Very interested - we will be in Darlighurst so not sure how practical it is to get to Hornsby though. Keep me posted if you think you can pull something off.
Really appreciate your help.

Unfortunately Darlinghurst is not on the way, however it's only a little over an hour by public transport (bus & train) from Darlinghurst to Normanhurst (Hornsby) so shouldn't be a problem.
Already have one guy from Zimbabwe keen to come and will know if others are interested after 12th Dec so will make contact and firm up arrangements after then.

Xtreme,
Hope the brunch went well, if at all possible the 30th December would be best for me as her ladyship wants to go to Melbourne and we wont get back till the 29th.
Thanks again

Hi Chris,
The brunch went really well thanks and we've got 17 people (including 6 of your countrymen) in 6 vehicles keen to join us on Wednesday 30th December.
So the plan is to meet you at Normanhurst train station at 8am - see attached for public transport details from Darlinghurst to Normanhurst.
I'll send my mobile number to you via PM and if you have one you might reply with your number. That should make meeting easier and avoid delays.
Looking forward to meeting you and your ladyship and showing you some of the Aussie bush.
Wear your walking boots/shoes/joggers as we'll do a short bush walk into a small canyon plus some other interesting spots.

Disaster has struck ? my son who lives in Sydney has presented us with two day trip with accomodation to Krinklewood on the 29 and 30 December as a Christmas present!!!
My only glimer of hope is that you may be in that area on the 30th and we could meet up but it is a lot to hope for and ask.
Failing that I am going to have to give the trip a miss which is a dreadful loss to us.
I've really appreciated all your help, my loss at not meeting you ? many thanks and have a good trip.
If you every get over to the UK give me a shout

No worries Chris. Have a good time at Pokolbin & don't consume too much wine. :D
We still have 15 people keen on going to Deep Pass so won't be able to be in the Pokolbin area.
We'll just have to meet in Suffock, UK instead. A few things will have to align if that is likely to happen. ;)
Happy New Year

Hi Chris,
I hope you had an enjoyable couple of days at Pokolbin.
We had a good day last Wednesday but I lost my front number plate when I hit a water crossing too fast - just for the photo ......... of course. :o
So I'm going out again next Tuesday in the hope of finding it in the mud at the bottom of the crossing.
If you have nothing planned for your last full day in Oz and you'd still like to experience a bit of the Aussie bush, then you are welcome to come along. It would be an earlier start than previously planned though (about 7:15am from Normanhurst Station) as I need to be back home by 5pm.
Give me a call on the phone number I PM'ed you previously if you're interested.
PS - I only have one seat available at this stage - may have another available if a friend decides to come along. Will know tomorrow.
