300 tdi auto with defender transfer case ?????

Some time ago I converted my defender to a Disco Auto including transfer case. Due to a blown auto cooler hose in the middle of no where and creeping back 100 ks with minimal oil its time for a box swap. Now i am happy with the disco transfer case but I want to slightly improve towing a small camper. I have read that a defender transfer and automatic run quite ok. Anyone have any input on this configuration. I'm not a speed demon and sitting on 90-95 kph is alright by me.

from the back of my head there is a difference in the transfer case gearing on the disco compared to the defender. the defender is geared lower vis needs more engine rpm for same road speed. 1.2 to 1.4 comes to mind.

You are correct :) The defender T/Case ratio is lower, this was due in part to the fact they ran larger(7.50 16 ) tyres than the 300tdi discos ( 225 16 ) .
