First pic.
A long time ago
From a company far far away
They used to fabricate this in their vans to hold brake light assemblies
I have no idea what its connected/welded to but its a lot stronger than the exterior paneling !!
The second pic shows the main problem,, the gal bulb holders at the bottom of the pic, another thing you'll never break! unfortunately the push-in connectors on both holders are leaking to earth, and after 25 years the connection to the bulbs is tenuous at best. :(
The lens in the middle shows the hole I've drilled to take the new LED wires.
The new LED unit is at the back.
This will be carefully sikaflexed on the front of the old lens.
I plant to line the orange/red line up with the new lights.
not really a lot of choices.

Looks just like a bought one :D
I've had massive problems with trailer lights, they either just break, or just never seem to work properly. Mind you, I'm guessing salt water has a fair bit to do with it ;)

with the amount of re-re-re-wiring I've had to do(somehow someone has wired the inside ceiling light circuit into the trailer lights:confused::confused:, now I'm happy with the elec brake wiring and rear lights but now have only HALF my interior lights work??? )
I'm a bit hesitant to actually hook the car up:(

Had a caravan of that brand. Great van, speciality the suspension, but the tail lights were a constant problem. corrosion on the contacts always an issue.
Sounds like you have found a fix. Hope my buyer from Beijing could handle the problem.

We were very lucky.
Lightening strike fires,6 in our area were all contained and well watched during the bad weather. We had a "highway fire",trailer wheel bearing failure in the height of the bad weather.Fortunately it was next to a pasture paddock and fortunately a farmer was traveling close by with a fire unit on his ute so quickly contained.
Both paddocks either side had big unharvested oat crops,if they went up it wouldnt have been stopped, just like the Esperance fires.
Looking like being a bad fire season.
