leaking auto output seal ?????

The output seal on my zf auto from a disco is leaking, its dripping Auto fluid, out of the transfer case join. Now my issue is that I have an intermittent issue with the box. Occasionally when i am stopped at the lights on take off The box hesitates like it is between gears a bit of a shudder and off it goes. The oil level is ok and box serviced with new filter less than 10000 ks ago. . Now the million dollar question, will changing the seal fix this issue or is another matter all together. I'm about to drop the transfer but if the box is stuffed i will change it out at the same time . Hoping someone has suffered the same issue and changing out the seal fixed the problem. ps kick down adjusted as per manual.:censored:

check the oil level first. if its low because of the leak you can get this symptom.

if its the clutch pack sticking or the front sprags starting to slip its box out time.

check the condition of the fluid and what comes out with it small brassy bits or a black suspended matter in the fluid is bad news.
