Anyone know who can supply rebuilt / remfg steering racks for the Disco 3? MLR are saying mine needs to be replaced, but they want over $4k for the replacement rack.
I've found it online for $3.3k but still.. surely someone repairs these things but I can't seem to find anyone currently.
Would prefer someone who can fit and organise but able to do the remove/refit if required.

I had mine replaced on my 2009 RRS probably the same part and I'm sure it was nothing like $3-4k, Ritters did it. Around $2k rings a bell installed

Recently had mine replaced. The original quote was after market for $950. That ended up not being available so a genuine one was supplied but at 'half price' cost of $1,650.
Knew they were around the $3,000 mark so was happy to part with the $1,650.

Seems you can get an exchange unit for around $900 from UK?
Haven't used this company but they do ship to Australia and give a refund if old unit is returned - probably not worth postage?

Thanks everyone. I'm looking into several suggestions made here and will report back with the cheapest option I can find :-)
FYI the girl only has 110k on the clock :-(

It seems strange that MLR says that it needs a new rack if it doesn't but you would do well to know exactly what's so worn that its necessary with such low kms. Inner ball joint wear was a bit of a problem with some early D4s but they are available as replacement parts.

They said "leaking and needs replacement". I'm at this stage assuming it needs to be done, i'll obviously ask for a second opinion before changing :-)
So far Ritters is the cheapest i've had a response from at $2800.
Seriously, why is it so hard to get people to respond to you these days when you ask for a quote?
