The stitching is letting go on the dash of our 2010 RRS, right up the front next to the windscreen...

Has anyone had this happen and been able to repair it or at least stop it from continuing?

Thanks

Dean

Can't help specifically with your issue, but I would drop into the dealer & ask their opinion.

If you have had all your warranty services done by them, they may be able to do something under "Goodwill" Certainly is worth a shot.

Car's well out of warranty (2010) so not an option. None of the Melbourne dealers have seen/heard of it before either, but I took it to the trimmer recommended by Malvern LR, who took one look at the stitching pulling apart on the dash and said it's clearly never been treated, and has just tightened up with time and sun exposure. In his opinion leather dashes are just a bad idea.

He's sent me off to get some leather conditioner into the dash to soften it all up, then hopefully he can get in there to pull it back together and reinforce underneath the stitching (which is just straight over the plastic). I might try and coordinate getting the worn out windscreen replaced to make his life a bit easier.

So even though ours seems to be the only dash it's ever happened to, everyone would do well to occasionally work a bit of leather conditioner into the dash to avoid an unlikely but very tedious eventuality. You've been alerted!!

Is the dash leather or vinyl?
