Hey guys
Does anyone know if there was a slight change in seats between 2007 and 2014??
The reason I ask is
I had a 110 puma 07 model and loved the seats in it very supportive and could sit in them for hours without a drama.
Just done a long trip in the 2014 puma 130 and I really really struggled with the passenger seat. It felt much softer than what I was used to in the 110 and it really didn't fee like it supported me well at all.
I was uncomfortable for long drives in this car with lower back aches rising pretty much daily.
Or is there any difference between the 130 and 110 seats?
The physical dimension of the seats must be the same as we moved our Melvin and Moon seat covers over and they fit fine.
For the first time ever in a defender (we have owned them for a few years) I think I might actually have to look for a different seat.

Depends on the seat option?
They do a number of different seats in the Puma.

I'm talking about standard cloth seats. The only different ones I'm aware of is leather and the limited edition models for example the recaro's.

All puma seats are the same frame, simply different material. Then there are the optional recaros. It may have been a matter of the 2014 seat packing it up faster than the older one.
Everyone says that some of the newer materials used aren't as good as they used to be.
Maybe try a retrim kit on one seat? Or if it's still under warranty... Take it back and have 'em replace one seat.

As Surrufus writes,
There are a number of different seats in the Puma (TDCi) defenders...
Not counting the Recaro seats that previously only came in the SVX models and special factory or dealership orders,
There are different seat back frames for different seats.
Some of the seats have separate head rests and some of the seats have integrated head rests into the backrest.
My drivers side seat back was replaced under warranty because the foam had collapsed on the side next to the cubby box, I have seen a few like this, mainly 2013 models.

Dullbird,I find the passenger seat in both my defenders different and not as comfortable,I think it's because you sit in the drivers much more so it wears to your bum shape quicker. Pat

Lou, the quickest way to check is to sit in another Defer,, obviously same year/model.
Pat raises a good question,, have you got a sore back when driving?

I haven't done any driving.
I did passenger and driving in the 110.
But this car I haven't driven.
The seat just feels too soft and there for not supportive.
I don't see the point in taking it to the dealer because seating is just a personal preference, so they are more than likely to sit in it and say is fine.

My 2010 110 had the drivers seat replaced when the frame broke and to me (and the Cook) the seats are not as good on long trips as our previous Td5 and 300Tdi.
And the Cook's always right.....

Hi Dullbird,
The information below relates to the standard cloth seats fitted to 2007 on Defenders which is what you asked about.
The seat base in the 2007 Defender110 I had showed no signs of collapse in the 55,000 km I had it. My 2013 Defender 110 seat bases are already showing signs of collapse at the sides at 20,000km. The cloth has lost tension and wrinkles are developing where you slide across the seat getting in and out. I am only 58 kgs so my weight is not the issue. I suspect that the seat foam is possibly different and is softer causing the foam to compress. This in turn is causing the seat cover material to wrinkle.
If the foam is in fact softer, it might be less supportive hence causing you problems.
